Why did you do that? Could have used the ruggeds for developing flat spots instead...

Never had flat spot issues with KO so I'm presuming I won't with KO2. But that is an interesting point for me to check on.

Tends to be mud or race tires that get flat spotting issues usually (and especially with a nylon cap ply or a full bias ply tire).

EDIT: Hey, hey. So it looks like the KO2 does have a nylon cap ply while the old KO does not. So it is in fact possible that the newer KO2 could be more susceptible to flat spotting! Of course my high aspect ratio (85) pizza cutters are about the least likely size to flat spot - but still worth keeping an eye on. I'll probably starting adding 10 psi extra to the tires prior to storage just to be sure, never did in the past with KO but why not be on the extra safe side.

Do you have any pics of the truck with those tires? I am thinking of going 235/85/16 but would like to see more examples of it.

Sure thing, pictures are in sort of sucky light that I took in a storage facility parking lot. Keep in mind truck is on stock suspension at this point, I'll be adding about 2.5" of lift eventually.

In a couple of weeks I'll be out with the truck again with a lot of time to get some better photographs of everything. I'll try to remember to update with some better wheel/tire photos at that time.

235/85/16 seems to be a pretty weird size for our trucks. Why'd you end up going with the skinnier tire?

Performs better in the terrain I typically drive on (rocky, gravel and sandy roads with infrequent thin snow or thin mud - rarely deep sand and never deep snow or deep mud).

Big fat or wide tires perform well in "floatation" situations like deep snow, deep mud or deep sand. But for most everything else narrower is more effective and gives better traction. That's why you see most vehicles on long expeditions (across Africa, Middle East, Australia, Central Asia, etc.) use thin tires. They work better on most terrain.

Wide excels only at some very specific terrain (think deep and soft), but of course some people specifically go off roading in things like deep mud or deep sand and so for them wider tires make perfect sense. And many people like the "look" of a wide tire so you see mall crawlers with them too.

Amongst "expedition" type vehicles 235/85/16 is actually pretty popular and if going to 33" the 255/85/16 which is also quite narrow for its size is extremely popular on "expedition" type vehicles.

But yeah, in general there are fewer tires available in 235/85/16 than 265/75/16 and you usually have to order the 235 while a 265 might be in stock.

Ok, just wondering if you came to the same conclusion.
My mpg has suffered because of stepping up to e rated

Same as you but trd beadlock. Same all. Only i have 6 speed.
Highway i lost 20 miles to the tank when i used to get 300. Not much to me. But streets with all my tools and ladders. I used to get 280 miles to the tank. Now its like 240. They are oversized and overrated.
But they feel bullet proof. Compaired to my toyos.

Cool good to know. I just finished the second tank of gas on my truck and the low gas light came on at 300 miles on the stock wheels and tires. Losing 20-40 miles a tank I'm fine with. Thanks for the info

I put a set of 265/75/16's on my truck shortly after I bought it, I don't even remember what the stock tires were but I know I didn't really care for them. I live out in a more rural area that doesn't get snow plowed all that often and most of the roads around here are gravel. I wanted something that gave me better grip on both surfaces and so far I'm pretty happy with the KO2's. I also think they look pretty good on the truck too.

Admittedly, this is my first truck so I'm not really familiar with off-road/all-terrain tires. I'm sure there were better options out there, but that will be for the next set.

For those with 285s, how do you like the ride? I hate that they only make them in E range. They need to make at least a D range for our trucks..
