That and the over-engineered "flashlight holder" behind the rear seats.

Auto companies almost always quote their most efficient model as their highway MPG. There will not be a Tacoma high mpg package lol. I would say 26 mpg highway on the automatic. Maybe 25 if it is 4x4. So many people here expect way too much and then are disappointed in poducts when they launch. Toyota is out to sell pickups. They only need to be so good in MPG to compete.
Don't count on any huge leaps in fuel economy past the Colorado. It's still a heavy truck. Toyota knows they have to raise the bar, but only a little bit at a time.

They raised the bar so high that most of the loyal Toyota customers have fallen into a COMA

FastlaneTruck does an Ike Peake Gauntlet run with timed runs towing about 5k lbs for the tacoma and Colorado. They did not give the mileage read out for the Taco but the Colorado was around 6 mpg. That tells you this supposedly, more efficient motor can have mileage all over place depending on the work load. Mileage is very specific, without a load and with just the driver.

I'm seriously toying with the idea of trading/selling the truck for a 16...

I actually really like the new model. the interior especially.

buuuuut... i do love my truck and have spent a lot of time, money, and hard work on it.. would be hard to let it go.. :(

It doesn't look like any new information will come out of the New York Auto Show this week. I thought Toyota might use the show to drop out a few more crumbs.

I doubt I'll get any new info at the Denver auto show next week either.

Toyota will be tweaking things up to the last moment. If they can squeeze another .5 mpgs before the release, theyre gonna do everything they can to get that. Gm didn't release any info on their twins right up until the release happened.

Take this for what its worth, but the guy from the local Toyota dealer just called me and said that production is slated for September with preorders beginning in August. I have no clue where he got that info, just reporting what I was told.

Is the 2016 even scheduled to be at the Denver Auto Show? I live in Cheyenne and would make the 100 mile drive to check it out if it were.

I checked and it is indeed. Thanks for the info. I am going to drive down with my Dad and nephew. Really want to see it in the flesh! Will be neat to see other cars too.

Heck yes! I want to see it in person. More than likely they will have the ropes up so you cannot touch it or get into it. But still better than nothing I suppose.

Yeah I just got my tickets. Heading up Wed. I am sure it will be the same blue Limited and TRD Access Cab but I want to see it in the flesh, along with the other cars. If there are any Toyota reps on hand I will interrogate them the best I can.

See if it still has the two piece driveshaft with carrier bearing. I'm curious how they got rid of the driveline vibration. And see if they got rid of that low hanging crossover exhaust. Thanks in advance.

Hard to see, but if you zoom in, you can see the new driveshaft design. This was at the NY auto show

I should have checked before I went to the Cleveland auto show back in March...I went straight to the Toyota booth and it was not there:(

Still had a good time and plenty of other vehicles to check out!
