So how is it moral for people to decide that they have the power to decide that gay people don't have the same rights as heterosexual.

Just as, people decided they had the power to decide a race of people didn't have the same rights as themselves.

Indeed it is a choice. Just ask those who used to be gay but now are straight.

nobody says gays don't have the same rights, the problem is when the gays want special rights.

To not be discriminated against isn't a special right

Well what I mean is that they want spousal insurance for living together etc, but if a straight couple are living together then they can't get the same benefit. I know a guy at work who is gay and he flaunts it. The feeling is he thinks he is untouchable because he is gay. If the company ever tried to get rid of him for any reason he would scream the gay card. They want laws changed just for them. I won't even get into transgenderism, thats a whole different animal.

I'm just curious what you mean. I don't think anyone is arguing that gay people should get more rights than anyone else. Are immigrants allowed jobs where you live? I hear they're trying to take over as well. Immigrants and women. Don't get me started on that stuff. :goingcrazy:

I haven't heard of this. If two people are married, then yeah, spousal insurance. Because that is the way it is set up.

There are some companies who will allow domestic partnership for insurance reasons. Some are for heterosexual couples, homosexual couples, or both. It is the employer's discretion though. My company does all 3 and I added my then-girlfriend to my plan when we lived together before marriage, but if we couldn't no worries.

I will agree that people who play the discrimination card when it is not the case infuriate me.

Some years ago a coworker of mine was a department manager. He was accused of discriminating against 2 of his employees because they were black. In reality it was they were not doing their jobs..too many mistakes, attendance issues, etc. They went to Human Resources and he was called to a meeting with the 2 employees and the HR rep.

He walked in and said he would like to start by learning a little more about each other's lives outside of work, and that he would start. He produced a picture of his family and laid it on the table. The 3 people looked to see that his wife was black and so were his children. That meeting didn't last another 2 minutes.

Wouldn't making same sex marriage legal nationally be the easiest way to iron out the differences between coverages like you specified ? ie one set of rules for everybody ?

Can I really voice my opinion in this thread? I'm surprised it has 14 pages, highly political, and isn't banded.

99% of them would disagree. In fact, those I know have said if they could take a pill and change it they would and ask me why do I think they'd choose such a life?

You can where I currently work and at some of my previous employers.

    Bingo

Yes it would and it is indeed turning the corner. But for those who believe in ALL of the Bible this will always be a bone of contention.

But not everyone finds the results convincing. And the kind of DNA analysis used, known as a genetic linkage study, has largely been superseded by other techniques. Due to the limitations of this approach, the new work also fails to provide what behavioral geneticists really crave: specific genes that might underlie homosexuality.
Few scientists have ventured into this line of research. When the genetics of being gay comes up at scientific meetings, “sometimes even behavioral geneticists kind of wrinkle up their noses,” says Kenneth Kendler, a psychiatric geneticist at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. That’s partially because the science itself is so complex. Studies comparing identical and fraternal twins suggest there is some heritable component to homosexuality, but no one believes that a single gene or genes can make a person gay. Any genetic predispositions probably interact with environmental factors that influence development of a sexual orientation.

Yup, especially where my state (MA) is the first to allow it.

This too. While a state may allow it a religion may not marry them.

I am heterosexual so it don't matter, but that's one reason I got married in Las Vegas
