Considering local muffler shop for Dual Exhaust, any ideas for good sounding mufflers for V6 4.0....

    Thanks

not to be rude, but there are a couple threads on what muffler sounds best for the 4.0..honestly its all personal preference...i "hear" the dynomax gives you a 5hp gain, vs other.. i own a flowmaster...love it..

The other thing to consider I actually using a dual exhaust. I'd recommend a single inlet-dual outlet muffler. If you try to make a true dual system you will hurt engine performance.

And like TRDSport said-Lots of folks wanted performance and dyno testing has shown a slight gain with the Dynomax SuperTurbo. Flowmaster tends to be liked for the sounds the most.

This makes a lot of sense but an X-pipe would help.

Yeah...There are ways to try and get closer to a true dual. I think that a muffler swap is the cheapest / easiest route for 95% of cases. A forced induction application need some more thought. And full header back builds kind of negate the cost benefits of a simple muffler swap...but toher wise. It's a pretty solid option imho.
