Finally getting nice out so I decided to wear my arms out. Washed, clay barred, and waxed, plus detailed the bed cover and all black plastic pieces.

Also removed the IVD stickers on the rear shocks. Only sticker I have left on the truck is my DMB sticker in the rear view, which I'm not taking off :)

Finally, decided to order the ARB awning and Bajarack awning mounts now :woot:

Also an update just for you AR15 :)

Fluid film on most of the frame is now gone after this winter. Some spots still have a slight film, but it's pretty much gone on the rear frame as well as the axle and rear leafs.

Going to scrub off most of it and re-apply with the Fluid Film that just came in as soon as I can.

Pretty happy for the almost five months of coverage it gave me.

Schweet. I've been driving in rain a good bit in hopes that it washes off evenly. I'll update you on mine when I wash my frame/engine bay probably the first week of April.

    I appreciate it

I think I'll be applying in the first week of April, so we might kind of be on the same cycle

I looked through my records, fluid film was applied four months ago.

Same schedule? Just coincidence lol. Thats when my spring break is.

    No truck stuff but...

Rented the M11A1, P229, and P320 Compact today to try and determine my first pistol to buy. Not sure if it really helped :) as all of them were great.

    M11A1
-Fatter grip than the 229 and 320, but a nice feel
-Trigger feel on finger is a little weird on the DA shot
-Recoil is nice, SA shots are very nice and controlled
-Slide easy to rack, slide lock is positioned more to the rear on Sigs, still a good location, just different than what I'm used to
-De-cocking lever is very easy and a good feature

    229
    -Slim grip and profile
-DA trigger pull is a little strong (same # as the M11, but felt stronger for some reason)
-Recoil and SA feel is also very nice
-Slide also easy to rack, slide lock in same position as M11
-De-cocking lever is very easy and a good feature

    320 Compact
-Probably middle of the road for these 3 for grip size
-I prefer external hammer rather than striker fired
-DAO is pretty nice, although trigger pull is a tiny bit too light for my liking (safety)
-Slide is too heavy to me for racking

Overall, they were all great as far as quality feel, size, and shooting feel. Little differences like the grip will make the difference for me. I believe the real choice is between the M11 and 229 for me, but really, they are very similar pistols. (almost identical...)

50 rounds each at 7-8 yards. Top left is M11, top right is 229, bottom is 320. I was shooting low for some reason with all of these, but I believe that was a user error and I was not bringing my front sights up enough. Overall though a good and fun day of shooting for me.

Huge fan of the 229. Personally hate the DAK and would recommend the DA/SA models. I have both .40 and 9mm and both are great; never had a misfire attributed to the weapon.

Yeah, prior to today I have fired only the 229 and I loved it. I will NOT even consider getting DAK on the 229, my state trooper buddy's service weapon is a 229 DAK and he hates it a lot. I am used to DA/SA with the Beretta 92 that I usually fire, but I know some people want every round the same.

If I get either the M11 or 229, they will be in 9mm as I have read lots of studies analyzing 9mm v. .40 and they have determined it's all about where you actually shoot the person as they both have similar "stopping power".

It is definitely going to be a hard decision, but I'm leaning towards the M11 as it has the following features, which are important to me, especially since it will be a concealed carry weapon. (the 229 shares some of these features, but not all)

    -Short reset trigger
-Comes standard with Sig night sights
-Slimmed and "de-edged" profile ideal for a carry weapon (big plus here)
-Phosphate coated internals for rust prevention
    -Comes standard with 3 magazines
    -External hammer and de-cocking lever
-Based on a mil-spec weapon so I know it will equal Sig quality/durability

Still have not been able to spring clean my truck. Hoping to this weekend.

How are you making out so far Matt?

The only thing I've done so far is wash/clay/wax/interior :anonymous:

Hoping to possibly wash the frame down and reapply fluid film and maybe drop the skids to repaint, as well as the sliders this weekend.

Also need to re-grease UCA bushings, crank coilovers up, get alignment, touch up paint on rear bumper, install awning, and get CB tuned up.

I will probably ask the shop to try and tune by CB whenever I crank the coilovers and get an alignment, but both those things are not as high on my list since they're not really maintenance.

It "will be my dad's" for a little bit then gifted to me. My parents and grandfather were ultra-gracious enough to get me the pistol together as my 21st present.

ARB awning is on. Please excuse the cell phone pics...

Fairly easy to set up by yourself, the wind today made it a little wonky but overall not bad. My only gripe so far is that the zippers for the bag stick out like a sore thumb. ;)

Would be a pain to undo and redo whenever I use the awning...might take the handles of the zippers off and use small black zip ties instead.

I tried to put the handles in then slide the zippers closed together but it didn't really work.

Dropped skids and about to sand and paint...my transfer case skid is a bit bent

Also scrubbed the frame as best I could to get the previous layer of fluid film off...I will apply the new film once it dries.
