Well , I don't know about bits and pieces but I seem to think there are kind of two camps , one that believes it is a history text that is intended to be accepted verbatim and one that believes it is a set of lessons for how to conduct oneself no ?

Ironic that the local High School girls Softball Coach(female)was suspended and being investigated for Tweeting and asking for help to "burn the place down".

Not all gay people act like that. Not all of them want insurance. Most just want equal rights. What's wrong with 2 gay people that love each other and want to get married and have the same opportunities as a straight couple.

I worked with a gay black guy. He was an asshole. Not because he was gay or black. He was just an asshole.

If a company wants to get rid of someone for doing a shitty job and they'll cause an issue for whatever reason, you better believe that they'll cross their T's and dot their I's so there's no question as why someone was fired.

The same book of the bible says eating shellfish is a sin...and mixing fabrics. Again, stop picking what parts of the bible support discrimination.

 

I may not agree with what you're saying, but I respect that you don't treat people differently even if you disagree with their lifestyle.

So many preach the bible, but don't follow it and treat people like garbage.

 

The bible is very clear on many things, but that was a much different time. I have no doubt that there are many sins you, I and everyone else on this site commit on a regular basis. Ever touch a football? Have you ever worked on a Sunday? Times have changed and so have things that are considered acceptable and unacceptable.

So....... What does equal rights entail? Couldn't you say equal rights could include insurance too? "Equal rights" is a blanket statement plain and simple. People think it has a good ring to it so why not throw it around all the time.

 

Of course it can include insurance for married couples, heterosexual or gay. What's your point. Equal is equal. It's not rocket science.

 

So what about all the passages in the bible that condone slavery.

 

Yup.

The Catholic church also is against divorce. So let's say my sister's husband beats her up. She should stay with him versus getting divorced then is what I see that as. Not like it matters because if that ever took place I'd handle business..

 

Not every slave was a slave by choice. Whether it's racial slavery or not, it's slavery. The passages are very clear that slavery was accepted.

 

How does the perception of slavery then and now and the article I posted that essentially lobbies the same difference with respect to the passages that refer to homosexuality differ ?
