As I said before, you're free to BELIEVE what ever you please and worship whom ever or whatever. As long as your beliefs don't infringe on other people's beliefs or ways of life. No one religion should force their ways and beliefs on anyone else. ISIS shouldn't be out trying to spread the word of Islam through terror and violence. Jewish people shouldnt force you to not eat what they consider sinful. Christian senators shouldnt force their ideals on gay marriage. Would you be alright with other religious ideals being force into your practices. I think not.

This comes down to interpretation. Different churches with the exact same bible come up with different ideas. The bible that you read today is not the original scripts that were written. It's been rewritten and interpreted over the last few centuries.

Marriage was founded as a religious ideal, is it fair for the state to tell them to accept gay marriage, if it goes against their religious beliefs!
If the gays have been given "all the same rights and entitlements" as a married man/woman.
    Is this really discrimination?

Looking back into historical times, I see no reference to gay marriage, 0 zip, nada.

Now ask yourself, is it fair for the "state" to force gay marriage upon the religious community, when the church has never accepted gay marriage.
And I'm not talking the new progressive churches, that weren't around when the Constitution was signed!
    New churches = new values

Um, says you. Again, interpretation. You can spin it anyway you like, it's still interpretation.

So how old do these dating techniques say the earth is?

I don't believe in the same thing as you. Does that mean my marriage to my wife is void because it wasn't for religious reasons?

Here in Arizona my partner and I couldn't get married. Luckily the state did allow for domestic partner benefits. I just had to prove that we had been living together for at least a year and wait for "open enrollment"(if a hetrosexual couple got married, they could put their spouse on the insurnace right away and not wait for open enrollment.). When Arizona made same-sex marriage legal, they did away with domestic partner benefits. That means, to keep my disabled partner on my insurance, we had to get married. Don't get me wrong, we wanted to get married, but we wanted to wait until we could afford a nice ceremony. Instead we did a quick simple thing. Just a couple of people over to sign the certificate.

So your remark about the hetrosexual unmarried couple vs the homosexual unmarried couple(I don't know where your state is on same-sex marriage) but it could be that the homosexual couple is unable to marry(due to state law) whereas the hetrosexual couple is.

If you feel believe that, why did you get married?
marriage started as a religious institution, if you married in a church, that means you've accepted the values of the church.
Most churches share the same core values from the bible, until recently when some churches have changed(ie Episcopalian)
The Episcopalians also suffered a major split when they changed their values to accept homosexuality, women priests, gay bishops etc...

Do I have to be religious to want to devote myself and spend the rest of my life with a single person. How small minded is that?

Despite what marriage might have been founded on, in today's world it's very much a legal agreement between two people

If religious institutions don't want to support gay marriage within their organizations I see no problem with it since their "rules" state that they won't allow it. It's a private organization, what they do is their business as long as they are within the confines of the law (i.e. the church couldn't stone someone for being gay).

I do have a problem with the government not recognizing gay marriage though since it's an organization that is supposed to be for the people. The government recognizes several other binding contracts between two people and I'm not really sure what makes two people of the same sex wanting to enter a contract any different. If they want to be married in the eyes of the law, let them do it and if they want to break that contract, then they will have to go through the legal process like everyone else.

Of course there are people that question religion. You yourself question other religions, do you not. You believe yours is the only true one. They feel the exact same way about their religion as you do about your religion and god. Why is yours the absolute god? Why's is yours so definitive over all the other approximate 4000 religions in the world.

I like the term "Civil Union", and all the rights that a "Married couple have.
I'm not pro discrimination, just believe the "State" has become far to intrusive in our private lives!
    Now I'm out!

To be definitive, I'm not trying to sway any single persons beliefs, I'm simply stating that the government shouldn't infringe on anyone's rights and freedoms because of their religious beliefs

Here's from the American Psychology Association. They state families headed by gay and lesbian parents are just as healthy as opposite sex couples.

Not everyone who gets married has a religious ceremony. Many people go down to the "courthouse" and get married by the justice of the peace. Is their marriage any less than someone who got married at a church? In fact, I can have a non-religious wedding and the state recognize it. On the other hand, I could go to a church and have a ceremony without legally being married.
I don't recall seeing or hearing about someone forcing a church to preform a same-sex wedding. That doesn't mean the government shouldn't allow it.
