Ra travelled the Underworld for 1/2 the day yo

" During the evening, the Egyptians believed that Ra set as Atum or in the form of a ram. The Mesektet, or the Night boat, would carry him through the underworld and back towards the east in preparation for his rebirth. These myths of Ra represented the sun rising as the rebirth of the sun by the sky goddess Nut; thus attributing the concept of rebirth and renewal to Ra and strengthening his role as a creator god as well."

If I am passed out face down eyes closed in the forest after an all night drinking binge soaked in midget spit and wearing one sock, can I hear the sun?

it's also widely accepted that Mark's gospel was the first to be written, the oldest known manuscripts of which make no mention of resurrection or virgin birth.

Isn't this thread "Freedom of religion"!

not "Let's pick religion apart" thread, and as usual mostly railing against christianity...:(

Seems to me what we have here is a thinly veiled attempt at a "re-education camp" mentality. What someone does in their bedroom is their business. If a person chooses to practice homosexuality with another consenting adult, let them do what they want. If I run a restaurant and said couple comes in for dinner, I would be happy to serve them. If said couple wants me to cater their wedding, I draw the line because that makes me a party to what they are doing - in essence tacit support. I also would not allow a friend to come to my house and spend the night in the guest bedroom with his girlfriend - they're not married. From my understanding of the scriptures it's the same thing. My conscience would not allow me to be a part of it. I do not hate homosexuals, indeed I work with two. They are hard working and professional and I respect their rights to do/believe what they choose. In turn, they respect my rights. I can respect you and disagree at the same time. What I see today is that I am being told I have to "agree or else"...that does not seem enlightened or right to me.

Reincarnation is central to many religions, and Krishna is considered an incarnation of Vishnu
lots of Hindu stories involve resurrections as well

    that's not "freedom of religion"

    Happy Easter to you too

What if someone wants to marry their dog. Should we discriminate against the said someone and say that's just weird or should we allow it and then force insurance companies to pay special vet insurance for the dog. What if someone wants to marry their mom, or their dad? How about if someone wants to marry their grandma..

    Actually says scholars:

    F. J. A. Hort, who was coproducer of the Westcott and Hort text, writes: “The great bulk of the words of the New Testament stand out above all discriminative processes of criticism, because they are free from variation, and need only to be transcribed. . . . If comparative trivialities . . . are set aside, the words in our opinion still subject to doubt can hardly amount to more than a thousandth part of the whole New Testament.”

As scholar F. F. Bruce put it: “Variant readings . . . affect no material question of historic fact or of Christian faith and practice.”

Commenting on the history of the text of the Christian Greek Scriptures and the results of modern textual research, Professor Kurt Aland wrote: “It can be determined, on the basis of 40 years of experience and with the results which have come to light in examining . . . manuscripts at 1,200 test places: The text of the New Testament has been excellently transmitted, better than any other writing from ancient times; the possibility that manuscripts might yet be found that would change its text decisively is zero.”—Das Neue Testament—zuverlässig überliefert (The New Testament—Reliably Transmitted), Stuttgart, 1986, pp. 27, 28.

Professor Julio Trebolle Barrera, a member of the international team of editors of the Dead Sea Scrolls, states: “The Isaiah Scroll [from Qumran] provides irrefutable proof that the transmission of the biblical text through a period of more than one thousand years by the hands of Jewish copyists has been extremely faithful and careful.”

Concerning the Christian Greek Scriptures, a leading authority on Bible manuscripts, Sir Frederic Kenyon, wrote: “The interval then between the dates of original composition and the earliest extant evidence becomes so small as to be in fact negligible, and the last foundation for any doubt that the Scriptures have come down to us substantially as they were written has now been removed. Both the authenticity and the general integrity of the books of the New Testament may be regarded as finally established.” He also stated: “It cannot be too strongly asserted that in substance the text of the Bible is certain. . . . This can be said of no other ancient book in the world.”

There's lots more to back that up. The transmission of the Bible, even though hand copied for centuries, has been long established to be accurate.

And those dating techniques that are used, are very often comparisons of styles of handwriting that were in use at certain times. Only occasionally have radio-carbon dating, etc been used to establish dates.

I can post as many videos that Bible may be fiction.

I am curious if you and the others think the atheist, agnostic, non believers, etc.. are damned to hell.
