Tolerance is a two way street. The same people who are preaching that Christians are intolerant are equally, and in many cases even more intolerant of Christianity and Christians. It's to the point where it seems like today's progressives act just like social conservatives were perceived to act 20 years ago. They're filled with so much anger and hatred of those who disagree with them that we end up with companies being vandalized and put out of business for having a differing opinion about something. One other point, I don't see the connection between the African American struggle of the civil rights movement and the gay struggle of 2015. African Americans wanted to be equal in the eyes of the public and of small and large government, and they really weren't perceived as equals during those times. Gay people are allowed to do everything straight people can, except legally marry one another in some states, but the extreme end of their cause is fighting to silence everyone who disagrees with their lifestyle. While I am fine with gay people marrying each other, I don't necessarily agree that it's something I would want to be a part of. If I didn't want to cater a gay wedding, but they asked me to and I said no, they could legally sue me. I'll be honest, I have no desire to attend a gay wedding, and I would probably tell them sorry I don't want to do it. It has nothing to do with them being gay, it's just not something I would want to do, and it's my right not to do so. The law enacted in Indiana protects businesses from being sued for situations like that. The idea is to let the free market sort itself out economically, and to let businesses thrive or fail based on public perception, not the mighty hand of the government. One other thing, somebody earlier said Christianity is taking its dying breath, but that I don't believe to be true. 83% of the United States identify themselves as Christians, and our entire constitution was founded on the principle that it is our God given right to be free to do as we wish within the confines of the constitution. When big government steps into the equation to try and pander to certain small groups of people, large groups of people and up getting screwed by it, and once the bureaucracy is established, you can never get rid of it because it's primary goal is not to help the public, but to maintain its OWN entity. I didn't want to bring President Obama into this, but he hasn't helped. He was against gay marriage until 2012 when he suddenly changed his mind (for some odd reason....). I digress, If anything is taking its dying breath its Freedom of Speech, not Christianity.

The ever liberal news media has done a great job making this law into something discriminatory. It was enacted under the Freedom of Religion act (which Bill Clinton wrote) to PROTECT religious people and small businesses from being sued by homosexuals if they refused to provide services for that reason, not to make it OK for them to be prejudiced. Look at California, it has literally sued itself to the brink of bankruptcy. People have the right to disagree with someone, and shouldn't be forced to go against their own values and belief system just because someone is sued and forced to do so by a judge. Just watch, anyone who disagrees with me on this will instantaneously call me a bigot and a homophobe. See post above ^ freedom of speech is dying, and if we can't have legitimate discussions without someone throwing the hate card out there, what's the point of having any sort of freedom of speech in America?

So you're comparing gay marriage to dogs and incest?

Very true, but when the government starts enacting laws based on those people (on BOTH sides of the spectrum) that is the problem. Let the free market work itself out...and get the government out of these kinds of issues. IMO at least.

So then it's definitive. Christianity absolutely despises gay marriage, but tolerates and condones slavery. Got it.

I believe the law you are speaking of was deemed unconstitutional in terms of federal enforcement regarding or enforced at a state level but, was kept at the federal level for government. Additionally, that same law was signed by then President Bill Clinton but, was actually authored by Chuck Schumer. One other thing the uninformed media is leaving out is that the federal government already provided protiective clause to the LBGT cummunity which the Indiana law did not make allowence.

Thank you OZ I am one of those people but we have only been at it for maybe 20,000 years in the north east, unchanged no written book to argue over no church but a lot of devout people that believe in the "Great Mystery".
