My son and I are planning to put them on Monday afternoon. I work tonight and tomorrow was pre-empted by Easter family plans.

 I don't do that kind of stuff between night shifts. I make mistakes when I'm tired.

Looks great MQQSE. Thanks for posting. I'm supposed to have mine tomorrow. I was wondering how close the rails would come to the edge for coverage.

They cover the old "footprint" of the plastic caps very well along the sides. My truck is almost 8 yrs old, so I had definite rub marks where I've been stepping on the siderails. The only visible rub mark (not covered by the new rails) was along the back left edge. My truck is far from a show truck, so it doesn't bother me at all. I'm extremely pleased with the solid feel of the metal rails and tailgate cap. My gosh the tailgate feels so much heftier.

Cool. I just pulled all the plastic off in prep for instal and I have quite a job ahead of me. I played some helicopter tape under the plastic rails when the truck was new to protect the paint. It worked but now there is a ton of glue residue left behind from the tape that I peeled off (because it looked like garbage). I'm guessing I'm looking at 45 mins with a can of Goof Off and some rags tomorrow.

Sometimes WD40 works magic with getting sticker residue off as well.

For the love of God (or at least your paint) - NOT GOOF OFF

You want Goo Gone which removes adhesive without damaging paint.

The similarly named and packaged product "Goof Off" contains acetone and will totally hose the paint on your vehicle.

Do these sit at the same height as the plastic caps? Reason for asking is I have an all pro pack rack with an rtt on it and I cut the legs of the pack rack so that my tool box lid just clears the front cross bar by about 1/4". Also it would throw off the pack rack mounting holes which mount into the tracks. If it wont interfere with this stuff then it seems like a must have to bear the constant weight. Sorry if this has already been asked.

They sit just a little lower than the stock styrofoam caps.

A better picture for anyone that's on the fence.

I'm really happy with the quality of the caps. The weight of the tailgate has now effectively doubled and feels nice and hefty. The powdercoating is very well done and I don't expect any problems with it.

I did add some 8mil tape to the inside edge of the tailgate before installing the cap because the cap will rub on the paint. I actually got some minor scratch marks on the paint just putting the cap on but that area is concealed by the cap and is only an issue if you're concerned about rust. I had to touch up some areas that were already rubbed through from the shitty plastic cap. I was down to bare metal in 2 places.

The thick, dense foam tape included with the tailgate cap was very good quality and worked well but the tape included with the side rail caps was the cheap stuff and I didn't even have enough to do one full strip on each side. Maybe I got the short-bed amount. Either way I wanted to have 2 full strips on each side so I hit the store to grab some more.

I also added some 8mil tape to the inside edge of the side rails where the cap bolts on to eliminate any rub on the paint. It shouldn't rub much because it won't be moving much but I played it safe.

Great product and well packaged. I recommend including more foam tape with the side rails and if you could get a thinner version of the stuff you used on the tailgate cap that would be tits.

Anyone on the fence, pull the trigger. For Canadian shoppers, the shipping was 100 for all 3 pieces and the taxes/duty paid on delivery was 52 bucks. (BC)
