Wasn't too bad! I procrastinated on homework and took the bike out for a spin. Didn't get to nap before work so the night was really rough. But, it was worth it! :D

Hmm, a 2nd shift slot is opening up at the end of the month, but it's weekends. From 00:00-09:00 currently to 15:00-00:00.

If my boss is even re-filling the position maybe I'll take it. It will suck loosing weekends but I'd at least get to sleep at night.

    Hmmmmmmmm.

Working 3pm to 11pm(2nd shift) never appealed to me. Those are the hours that my whole family is home Mon. thru Fri. So I would never see anyone. Now if I were single & not a father, Hell yeah!!

I loved second shift when I did it, but we had 4/10 (15:30-02:00) mon-thur. I think 5/8 and doing it on the weekends would tip the scale the other way.

    Yo yo!

Yeah it's damn close. Most of my friends ride motorcycles and camp on the weekends so I would miss out on that. But at this point getting a solid 7-8 hours of sleep might be worth it. I sleep maybe 4-5 hours now during the day. My body wakes up by the time I leave at 9am and it fucks with me bad. If I could be home and in bed by 7-7:30am I think sleep would be much less of an issue.

    It's a very close call.

I'm single and have no kids so that's not too much of an issue. I would miss out on a weekly motorcycle group meetup for beers and food but mostly my friends ride on weekends.

I e-mailed my boss to tell him I'd take the position if it's open. I'm hoping he'll move some people around to put me on a M-F schedule since I'm the most productive member on the night shift and third most amongst all shifts. Weekends are pretty much dead (we're mandated to have at least 2 people on shift at any time 24/7/365) which would waste my productivity but we'll see what happens.

    Hi everybody.

Swing shift was always my least favorite shift. True you do get more sleep, but I never could go immediately to sleep when I got home, which I guess is what you're experiencing with the way your current night shift lines up. I'd always be up 'til at least 2AM, then sleep 'til mid/late morning. Always felt like there wasn't enough time left to do much before time to go to work. :notsure:

Yeah I don't have a problem with that. My normal body clock prefers going to bed around 1-2 am. At this point I just want more than 5 hours of sleep. I don't sleep more than 5 hours and usually only 4 hours during the day. I go to bed tired, and wake up tired and it's been like that for the last 10 months really.

Yeah, you need to find something that works better. I usually take two 3-5 hour naps between shifts. You gotta find what works for you. Feeling tired all the time sucks, and is very unhealthy for you. Hope it works out for you.
