Yeah, but will enough Canadians want to go to an NHL game that often to make it long term viable? Right now Arizona depends on the snowbirds, trust me they're are more of them in Arizona than in Las Vegas, and the team is floundering. I have a very good feeling that a NHL team in Vegas will flop in 5-10 years for the same reason Arizona will. There's no big businesses, other than the Casinos, that will be there to support the team from the corporate end of things. The stadium is NOT being built on the strip, so travel times will suck just like in Glendale, and the support for the team will wind down quickly if the team doesn't have success in the first decade on the ice.

 

It would get my vote

 

Move the Panthers to Quebec City

Move the Coyotes to Seattle

I think overall Bettman has been a good steward of the business side of the NHL

Agreed. I think Bettman has been good for the business side of the NHL. After all, the ownership hasn't fired him so most of the teams must think he's making them money.

I just disagree with what I see as Bettmans lack of care for certain situations over other similar situations. Clearly the ownership did not approve of what he did with the Coyotes because a lot of owners have commented on the down low that they will not accept the same thing happening with the Panthers or Coyotes in the future. I'm not saying what happened with the sale was legal or should of happened, but it doesn't speak highly of Bettman when he's bent over backwards and spent a good chunk of league money trying to keep the Coyotes in a market that isn't working.

At least that owner has the option to move after X years if this deal with Glendale doesn't work out. That is if Bettman doesn't overstep his bounds and come to the precious Coyotes rescue again...
