Propeller shaft bolt

Does anyone know what the propeller shaft bolt is and where it is? Do they mean all the propeller bolts?

My service manual says to retorque it every so many miles. Yet the FSM really doesn't make mention of this.

Again, the question is referring to the singular bolt. As written in the service manual.

Are they saying all bolts?

 

Im gonna have to say that it is the crankshaft pulley bolt? i dont know about re torquing it tho. Hmm.

 

In the 2nd gen factory-recommended maintenance schedule it says "Re-torque propeller shaft bolt". If you search the FSM for "Propeller" the only things that come up are related to the drive line. I guess that you have to assume that that is what they mean and we are to re torque the bolts at the flanges. That's that way I read it.

 

I'm pretty sure they're referring to the bolts holding down your "U" joints to the yoke flanges & it wouldn't be a bad idea to check them for torque once in a while.....

 

Yes and it seems to specify 4 bolts at each end to 74 N-M or 54 ft-lbs for torque.

 

I asked at our local dealer,

He asked a tech, his response was,

"Dont worry about it."

I havent since, that was 90k ago.

 

Thanks for all of your input. I figured it was lost in tech writer translation as well. So I torqued almost all of them. They were all in good shape.

I could not reach some of them on the cardon joint. Has anyone seen a torque wrench that looks more like a box end wrench? My standard socket torque wrench just couldn't fit in there.

German torque is also a way to go.( goodntight)

When I first worked helping mechanics wrenching airplanes we had a guy named Randy. We called him Rando, he was a really big guy from Texas. When we needed that extra press we called in Rando. The big torque jobs came to be known as, "Rando torque."

Sometimes you just have to use Rando torque.
