Hello San Diego. I need help. bad.

Well here we go.... pretty new to this area and trucking in general and I got myself into quite the situation today. Out near Otay mountain I bit off a lot more than I could chew with a very steep rocky hill. I got so stuck on a rock that as darkness approached I had to call in and the sheriffs came a picked us up. If anyone in the area can come help me get her out tomorrow morning I'd be super stoked and provide $$ and or beer. I think I may have been able to get it out if I just had more daylight. Also, if the trail at the bottom of this crazy ass hill does not lead back to the 94, I'll have to go back up, and likely let the air out of my tires so if someone has a compressor I think were going to need it. PM me any questions or text works best for me 818-517-5732. This will definitely be a challenge but I really need some help.

    -Tim

I didn't take pics, but yeah stuck on a rock. It was stuck on the front axel and I used the jack and got free but immediately got the back caught and then the sheriff showed up so we had to go. Thanks for your reply

Just talked to him on the phone, i can't make it out til the afternoon aswell but I'm down to head out there. He's only 2wd so I can't imagine it being too difficult to get to him and yank him out. Even tho he said it was pretty gnar

well if I still lived in san diego we'd have your truck out tonight.... unfortunately i live in oregon now lol I've explored every nook and cranny of otay mtn in my truck and know exactly where you are.

there is no way out except heading back up the hill, which is totally doable, did you see the smaller over grown trail to the left of the hill, thats the only way back up. if you keep going on the main trail it eventually does lead to the 94 but you have to make it across a decent sized rock garden where sliders and 4x are a must, if you make it past that you'll end up at a place called "the pink gate" (a real popular shooting spot). Now the only way out through the gate is to get lucky while a border patrol agent/Cal Fire truck or BLM ranger is headed through it.

who ever goes out and tows you back up the hill needs to make sure they have a really good quality tow strap, solid recovery points on their truck, and needs to have a clue on what they are doing, part of the hill on the way up gets a little narrow and makes a really tight right turn up a few steep rocky ledges, things can get hairy real quick but once you are past that your home free.

yeah this is going to be something... so if im 2/3 of the way down, you recommend I get unstuck, go to the bottom, and then head back up the hill? and the overgrown side trail would be better than the main one i came down? the sheriff mentioned a 2x jeep that got stuck and was able to get up it after deflating his tires.

I highly doubt an aired down 2wd jeep made it back up that hill. In my eyes and from my experience on that hill yes, id back down down the hill and get towed up the trail to the left.

Could someone possibly tow you up from where you are? probably so. But finding someone whose willing to back down the hill to reach you and then tow you up might be hard haha it all depends on whose coming out to assist you and what type of gear they got. If its a few guys with just tow straps it'll be interesting. If someone has some real recovery gear and a winch things will be a breeze. Then again this is me speaking and not even knowing where your even positioned on the hill or knowing whose going to come help. Theres more than one way to skin a cat ya know what I'm sayin..

If you back down and take the trail to the left that first right turn on the trail is where your going to run into a little trouble. As long as you guys shorten the tow in order to get around the corner you'll be alright.

Take lots of pics and vid! wish i there to help you man, i love this kinda shit! The san diego chapter of TW is by far the best group of guys to hang and wheel with, no matter what the situation you'll always find someone willing to help a brother out.

Otay is bitting back, a friend of mine flipped his sports trac today in the early AM. Went out and flipped it back on all 4 but it needs to be towed out. I'm gonna try and do that around 2 so I should be able to him Tim afterwards but it's not a sure thing.
