Yeah, and because it's way better in the rocks compared to IFS, at least in terms of susp travel.

I've seen people post here on the forum, on the TW FB page, saying "IFS is fine, so what if you only have 10" of travel and get tires off the ground?" That's what I like about SFA. Because of the 24"+ travel I have, I can run posi/posi axles on trails that would require at least one locker on an IFS truck, simply because I can keep all my tires in contact with the trail.

Keeping all 4 tires on the ground seems pretty boring to me. You know where else I can keep all 4 tires on the ground? The mall.

Interesting! I didon't know you had 24 inches of travel! Wow. Haha. Is that typical?

What do you guys think of racerunner? Quick read made it seem like they're saws? Does 2nd Gen fit 1st gen coils?

That's what I figured. So it's the first generation saw?

Getting 1 tire a higher than the tire height with the other 3 on flat ground is pretty typical of crawlers. So 3+ feet of total articulation with front and rear combined.

I'll probably be using every bit of 12" rear and 14" rear shocks with leaf springs. FToys are light and stable and will climb like a mountain goat.

Phoenix is surrounded on the edges of the valley with some of the most hardcore rock trails in the world. With Johnson Valley/Hammers and Moab within easy towing distance.

any 2.5x8 inch shock is for LT purposes only on first and second gens

    That makes sense. interesting.

I didn't know 2.5x8 was lt Coil. How much travel would a coil like that have?

That makes sense as well. Never though about it that way.

can only be used with a shock hoop or if you buy a kit. but that pulls 13.5-14.5 depending if you cut a hole in your Core support to allow it to go up more

On a solid axle, as 1 corner compresses, the opposite side is leveraged down providing pressure/traction to the opposite side. And to some extent, transfers/leverages towards the opposite end.

I had no performance complaints on my 1st Gen with full OME setup (stock arms). Every optional line up the back way to Crown King and several Moab trails. ELocker helped the crawling.

But I cut my teeth on the rocks in the SE and knew I wanted to go bigger. Confidence in CVs with a front locker and harder rocks is limited for me. To do a good quality SAS is gonna be 10K+. Then I found the FToy Buggy for less than that and not having to be concerned with highway drive ability and body panels, no brainer.

Granted that does require tow rig, trailer, parking, and at this point, just as much in upgrades/rebuilds as the purchase price.

I wouldn't wait years to upgrade one big time versus doing a quality coilover/full leaf setup that will allow better/slightly larger tires and fun/exploration now. Heck, a 1st gen truck probably needs shocks replaced anyway.

Not for a stock SFA. Even the 4" Skyjacker system that my YJ had when I bought it couldn't flex like that. There's some mods required for it. All I had to do to get that was longer shocks, high-steer system, spring-over-axle flip and change my shackle angles.
