    Welcome bud!

The TJ suspension is a lot more complicated than what I have, coilsprings/control arms/panhard bar versus leafsprings/shocks.

I had a tera-flex long arm on my jeep in high school and it had crazy flex! I'd recommend that for your dad

Haha I'm still very novice. It is lifted about 3.5-4" with procomp springs and shocks. Actually just got new front teraflex lower arms and a new teraflex steering stabilizer, new track bar, etc. It's not long arm though. IIRC that's mainly for more articulation right?

Correct me if I'm wrong but in order for you to have 24" of travel, I think your shock would have to be that long? :notsure:

That's what I was thinking.. but I don't know enough about suspension. To me, a 2.5x8 means the shaft is 8 inches long, or so I thought. That would yield only 8 inches travel. But I'm way under educated so I have no idea.

Would that be because the vehicle is trying to stay level, so there's more down force on the side of the axle that's being extended causing more weight on the compressed side?

What'd you run on your OME?
And that is exactly it. Everyone is tell me to wait. Cool, I understand. If I knew exactly what I wanted to do, and had the income to wait, SURE! But 2 years is minimal. It'll be upwards of 3-4 probably. I'm more worried about finishing school and getting my life together with a job and a house then going and dropping 10k on my truck or more. I'm looking to make my truck more useful off road, not a trailer queen right now.

That's funny. I've read a ton on the LT bs and keep up with it as much as I can. They all do SUA for the up travel. I'm assuming SAS'd do SOA for the down travel?

Also, what does the panhard bar do?

8" shock has 8" of travel, but it mounts in the middle of the LCA, so the motion ratio is near 2:1 and gets 13-16" of wheel travel

Experience and Good Driver Mod far and above outweighs ANY mod direction. If you can and want, do something with springs and get out there (not that you aren't now).

To some extent, I sit back and think wow when you and Sam are planning multiple years out with the same rigs. But different perspectives, I've had 8 different vehicles since getting to AZ 2.5 years ago :O. Wow it hurts when I actually count it out. My focus between MTB, exploration, and crawling shifts every so often.

Do it once is fine and good. But never doing it because of over analyzing and waiting to go fullbore isn't any fun. Based on how you talk/plan, you're not the type to do something, take a few trips, and change everything. Which is overly expensive. Your probably going to wear out the tires of appropriate size and suspension components are going to be ready for TLC when your ready and budgeted for LT or SAS and a towrig.

Spring over is more about ground clearance and flatter softer springs for flex. Some are noticing the benefit to a balanced suspension with similar up and down travel numbers instead of the faux low center of gravity limited up travel crawlers of recent past.

Aw shucks. 6-22-04 I did almost not wake up. It definitely changes your perspective.

1st Gen w/ OME, I think mid-level coil option, full leaf pack, and shocks all around. 33x10.50 KM2s, Bumpers, Sliders, Skids, Winch.

In the year (or less) I was using it, hit up Sheep's Bridge, Elvis, KOFA, TipTop Mine, Gisela Cabin, Back Way to CK a few times, Senator Hwy, Horsethief Basin, Rainbow Rim, Kaibab Plateau, Gooseberry Mesa, Henry Mtns, and Moab.

Watching a documentary and thought this was funny

“Taking a trip for six months, you get in the rhythm of it. It feels like you can go on forever doing that. Climbing Everest is the ultimate and the opposite of that. Because you get these high-powered plastic surgeons and CEOs, and you know, they pay $80,000 and have Sherpas put the ladders in place and 8,000 feet of fixed ropes and you get to the camp and you don’t even have to lay out your sleeping bag. It’s already laid out with a chocolate mint on the top. The whole purpose of planning something like Everest is to effect some sort of spiritual and physical gain and if you compromise the process, you’re an asshole when you start out and you’re an asshole when you get back.” — 180° South

Climbing Everest us still dangerous and very hard but it's turned into kind of a joke. I definately wouldn't wait in lines going up to the summit. That just seems ridiculous. The amount of trash up there is getting pretty out of control as well.

If I was in good enough shape to do a trip like that and was into mountaineering Everest would be pretty low on the list
