If you daily drive your rig and are running 37" tires and above I'd go the spindle and tapered bearing route. You can do preventative maint on it and if you have to change out the bearings it's just a run down to parts store to get them and swap them out. You loose a unit bearing and your waiting for it to come in and they are very expensive. Read what I wrote to Supra TT

"The Unit bearings are great, but very expensive if you have to change them. At some point I'll be switching over to the unit bearing eliminator kit since I drive my truck on the road so much and I'm running such big tires.Towards the end of it's daily use, about a month before I stopped driving it daily both unit bearings went out. Thats and $800.00 hurtin' to the wallet. But considering thats 60,000 + miles on them with all those harsh wheeling trips in there that isn't a bad record. But you can't do any preventative maint on them and you just can't change one bad bearing. You have to swap out the entire thing.

They are great, but I'm gonna go to the old spindle style and just repack the bearings after a certain amount of trips. especially if there is deep water crossings."

Ruffstuff has some similar to them. They are a new product so I have no idea how they perform. I need to replace my TG junk on my frame shackles and I have been thinking about the ballistic, but you should buy the ruffstuff and tell me how they are :D

Also in the factory application of the Ford UB the vacuum (used to engage the hubs) pulls sand and mud into the bearing's and destroys them even faster. If you don't us the vacuum and don't mind the cost of replacement then id say they are a great Idea.

I don't think any of us would use the vacuum assist on those as everyone I've seen uses either manual hubs or slugs.

I'll just leave this here for anyone thinking of buying from them:http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/bad-...abrication-sucks-crooks-liars-do-not-buy.html

What are you trying to achieve with an orbit eye style bushing? I would loosen the shackles up a bit first and see if that lesens any bind.

The early first gen taco's came with vacuum controls for the add already on them so if someone put one of these under it it would be nice to not have to get out to lock in hubs but like you said most people that swap that in don't use the vacuum that is mostly a flaw I see in the factory application and with farmers.

    Thanks guys

I'm aiming towards 39-40's but it won't be a daily, just driving to trails. I already have 3 ub's and I cab grab another for cheap. And my buddy is a machinist so it's super easy for him to bore and drill new ones. I'm thinking if I blow out a set I have spares and then I'd gather up the parts to switch to spindles.

The free spin kit is too rich for me at over 2k, I'd grab the parts from a 90's d60 but there not that easy to find around here.

I'm running lockouts as well, vac hubs went in garbage lol

I just may do that lol

Would like everything to move more freely. I used the ballistic joints on my 82 and they worked great.

I've been buying from Both Ballistic and Ruff Stuff for years and have never had an issue. If there was a problem it was felt with quickly from both.

Since it's not a daily and you have extra parts already you'll be good to go. ;). I'm also doing it to provide anothe option on the kits. Some people don't like unti bearings and I want to have that option for them.
