Yeah, the whole set-up is garbage, but no way the gov't was going to find "against" gov't motors & make them install new brake-line kits on 5 million trucks. GM knew they did something wrong, and did nothing about it, which is just 1 more reason I hate them...

The average driver is more like my wife than a TW member that does their own maintenance. They pay $20K to $75K and expect the vehicle to work without killing them due to failed brake lines. And they are absolutely fuking right to feel that way. This isn't Honduras. We have winters and road salt. If you sell vehicles to soccer mom's in Michigan the brake lines better be made of materials that won't fail due to the salts the manufacturer damn well knows will be used on the roads. If they can't, or won't, do that then make that part of the normal dealer service program.

GM has all ways had problems with their brake lines it is totally unprotected steel lines. The replacement bulk lines are coated guess what they last. The Germans for decades have had coated lines even Toyota coats their lines. I would like to read the full report I'm guessing the reasoning was the age of the truck and probably if one washes the trucks brake lines they may last longer than the warranty. Maybe it could be a lucrative business for a car wash "May I suggest our brake line wash special for $29.95"? All though I agree with the bail out money GM has never fest up to their short comings shoot the damn things in the late 60's and 70's had idler arms that fell off the steering and to this day their frames rot as badly as Toyota's and no one I know of has ever had their frame replaced how long has it taken them to replace ign. switches? GM runs their operations with lawyers and accountants the designers design a car/truck and probably do a good job the accountants cut the money and when something goes wrong the law team steps in to cover their ass with litigation.

you laugh, but I've taken 2 patients over the years to the ER for inability to void.

One guy had over 1.5 liters in his bladder (average is about 300 ml).

Unfortunately we as a species haven't evolved past the Stupidity Era.

it wasn't stupidity, it was some sort of urethral blockage. He physically couldn't urinate (the dementia didn't help either)

You replied too quickly!!! I was going to edit my post to say that if it was due to a medical condition then the "stupidity" part doesn't apply to this person.

    Lots of possible reasons.
And they were probably about 14/10 on the pain scale.

Pray you never have a kidney stone. You'll pray you never get another.
Also things like prostatitis, diabetic conditions, cancers, med reactions...
Believe me, they want to pee.

Also groin trauma. See a guy who has had a truly bad groin injury.
Imagine a penis and testicles more closely resembling a road squashed chipmunk...all the innards outward.

As for squashed testicle guy that Nealkas writes about ... ouch! Worst I saw was a cop who Glock-shot his testicles off.

    Oh

    my

    goodness.

Please don't tell me he was carrying tucked into his...
Carrying a revolver like that was dangerous, with a semi...
One in the pipe...the hard way. :(

My guy was riding a crotch rocket in his swimsuit and sandals; hit gravel, and curbed it.
    Like ~19-y/o.
Missed major head trauma somehow, but lost the swimsuit and sandals.
Super hot day, so once he abraded to a halt he sort of browned on the hot blacktop until we got there.
He looked like a bowl of overripe oozing strawberries from the road rash and a fried hamsteak where he laid on the road.
When you first saw his groin, it took a second to process what you were or weren't looking at.
We were actually in a transport rig, no narcs on us.
Closest other rig was like 15 minutes out.
We just packaged him fast and boogied. Wanted to get him out of the heat as much as anything else.

    Thank God for shock.
He was just about starting to feel the pain when we rolled him in the door.

Actually wound up shipped to a burn center because of the extent of skin damage made them the best place.
Supposedly he did okay, even saved at least some of Willie...eventually.
