Haha monte, you kill me  It is so true. the closer to stock, the less things you have to worry about, but the less fun it is. Ha. And that might be true if I can get it to run perfectly. Sometimes it likes to die sitting at stoplights or not want to start up unless I burp the throttle upon turning it over. But other than that it seems to run fine. You should see the ghetto ass wiring in this thing..unreal. Last I checked, lamp cord should not be used to wire leds together.

Your stock clutch fan will give better performance.
Flex fans are designed to "flatten out" at High RPMs and rely on high speed at that point to actually cool the engine. There will always be drag at low speeds and reduced cooling efficiency overall. A clutch fan "free wheels" when it's not needed, there by reducing drag and tightens up when more cooling is needed.

So they are falsely advertising improved gas/HP performance?

I'm sure it will increase HP and mileage about as well as a magnet wrapped around your fuel line.
I'm only speaking from personal experience. I've run a few of these on V8's.
There were no HP gains that I could feel and the engine's would actually run hotter off road. Stock fans have always been better for me.
If you're running a race engine flat out down the track, you will prolly get some horsepower gains. Driving around town or even just freeway cruising you won't gain a thing.

Mine does that sorta. Usually due to exhaust back preassure as in you might have bigger pipe with very little back preassure. Why mine dies on occasion. Your forced air induction though so it is good for you. Just a bit tricky at the low rpms. Blip of the throttle is fine. Let em hear it roar haha

    Odd about the wiring.

I ended up throwing it away a few years back.

As much as I would like to say good things about LCE, I have had more negative experiences with them over positive.

    Pros:
Great long tube header for 2RZ

    Cons:

Incorrect info on site for motor mounts that took them 3 years to fix.
2RZ-3RZ short shifter was poorly made and vibrated all the time.
Aluminum shift handle melted away the coating in a few weeks
96-04 Tacoma 6 lug tundra brake kit calipers come untreated and rust over within a few days.
Shipped 1 item package over 2 weeks in 3 separate orders from 2 locations. Huge WTF!!

Refused to refund any money or do any returns on their dime even though they were completely at fault.

Damn that's pretty ridiculous.. Guess I will be careful when shopping at LCE.

Just ordered a drop in AFE filter. Last one on Amazon snagged it for 50$. Also got a mini fuse kit with 120 fuses for 6$... I think it's like 6$ for 2 or 3 fuses at the auto store hahah...

    alot still need done
nice snag man, and if you want to upgrade from a clutch fan. go with an electric one to my knowledge thats the best way to go for good cooling and horsepower gain.

Another false claim, I tried an electric fan, The stock one is fine. There is no reason to use anything else.

My electric fan was a dual set up and over the 6-7 months it was on the truckj I had a few major failures.

#1 a fan fell off the mount and nearly overheated the engine.
#2 the thermometer failed and was not turning on the fan properly or responding to manual adjustments, Nearly overheating the engine.

Thanks, yea I've seen that dual electric fan too, I've heard mixed reviews about it, will probably just stick to the stock setup. I just figured midswell ask to see if the flex fan would actually do anything since it's only like 85$

It's weird I just checked to see if they had more in stock after I ordered and it said there were 6 more in stock but it was back at regular price (60$)..? Hmm...

On the topic of the Intake resonators on the tube on the previous page, I have an Airaid intake tube, which gets rid of all those things. Just straight air from the box to the throttle body.

    Here's a pic

Precisely why I want to get rid of mine, make a free aftermarket intake tube basically..

Was even thinking about how to fill in the accordion parts of the stock intake tube.. Silicon maybe?

Plus there aren't very many options for my engine (1997 3rz 2.7L) only aftermarket intake is the rock ripper on trail-gear. id prefer to keep the stock box.

I had an air raid tube on my stock box a few years ago, Broke the hell out of my stock airbox cause it no longer allows articulation when the motor moves around when offroading at speed.

Was broken on a ride and didnt notice till I got back to camp.. dust all in the throttle body was not cool, Had to mcguyver it fixed for the rest of the trip.

so be careful as the stock air box is static mounted and the intake tube is designed to flex, when you pull the flex out of the equation the box will give and break.

All you gain with the air raid tube is noise, I noticed no performance or mpg gains.

I was just going to cap mine off, but this looks much cleaner and I got it on sale for $80, rather than $130. At least I think that is retail price for them
