    I've found that dogs learn hand signs quicker than words. I guess coz they don't speak english. It sounds like gibberish to them. They have to associate different gibberish sounds with each command. Hand signals are easier for them. My pug knows hand signs for sit, stay, lay down, speak, and stand on two legs. Plus it makes the dog look smarter or better trained, when actually it's easier. I can make her sit, stay, then I put a treat on the floor and she'll sit until I give signal for release, without ever speaking a word.
