I wasn't too impressed with the michelin at's that came on my ferd 150 company vehicle in the snow. I have the ms2's on my taco at the time and the ms2's were much better in the snow imo.

They look a lot alike until you see them side by side. Thats how you can really see the differences

Hopefully that extra siping helps out with their ice traction a bit. I had BFG's back in the day and they were great in snow but alarming in icy conditions.

My only gripe with the BFGs that I've had is how they don't play well with the OR's touchy brakes.

I have had zero issue in the snow/ice with them from a traction standpoint, but it's SO easy to trip ABS with them in the wet. Granted, this truck will trip the ABS if you look at it wrong, but it's alarming how easy it can be. That, and not wanting to muck up my wheels is why I switched to dedicated snow tires.

The sipes and new rubber compound a supposed help a lot. I also like how the new tread pattern have it go straight out toward the sidewalls instead of around those zig zags, that should help get rid of water and slush. We will see

I never had that problem with my ABS either. Maybe the wheelbase???

I've heard the MS2s are better. I'd consider those for my next set also.
Could be wheelbase, I hated the ABS in the Tacoma. It was WAY too touchy.

You've got the Sport, right Rob? The braking systems are different between the trucks. I believe I've got electric assist or something silly like that.

When my truck was at the dealer I got a Sport as a loaner. The brakes were noticeably different between the two models.

That got me thinking so I just looked it up. For 2009 (the year I have) all Prerunners and 4x4's all use the same disks and calipers but then I checked and the AC and DCSB use the same Anti lock brake system and the DCLB uses a different one all together. :D

anyone thinking about BFG's in the NE should look at the Cooper ST Maxx. I can't comment on the new KO2's but the Coopers are are superior in all conditions compared to my TAKO's.
The only thing I like about them was they lasted a long time. But the Coopers are wearing very well so far.

Plus, doesn't the OR have a brake booster that the other models don't have?

I think my dad is getting 14 MPG with his silverado on 35's (might actually only be 33's).

My gas mileage didn't seem to change with winter/summer gas.

I have another set of wheels for going 4wheeling that I think I am going to get either the ST Maxx or the Mickey Thompson ATZ P3s for. Just have to wait and see.

IDK let me check that out

Not very clear. Again just looking up a '09 but there is definitely 2 different versions, an electric and a vacuum. The electric says it's for DBL cab V6 models and the vacuum doesn't say anything at all, it just references the OEM numbers??? Nothing about off-roads or anything

I've had a bunch of different tires on my truck and the abs sucked with all of them . I snapped the sensor off wheeling one day and just never put a sensor in and the brakes have been fine .

I don't know if my mileage changes because the winter blend or if its compounded by me warming up my truck and burning more gas just idling.
I'll see if I can find the picture but under the hood, the OR looked different than my SR5. I can't remember exactly why, I just remember the reservoir area looking different and the OR having some extra bits that I didn't.

My mileage took a 1 mpg hit when the winter blend came out.

1 mile trip to work... I typically let my truck idle at least 5-10 min no matter what season. Judging by my app I use I'm averaging 12 mpg... Lol

I usually let my truck idle 5 to 10 minutes depending on the temp.
