32-34 psi will give good even wear in most cases and a smooth ride.

There is a guy on the 255/85/16 owners experiences thread that ran them without a lift fine. Had to do some trimming though I think

Damn i wanted these tires but when i bought my set they did not offer the 255/85r16 only the 17. The cooper st maxx will probably be the next tire i get. Hopefully this size gets more and more popular so we will have a better selection

Doubt it. They are fairly new in this design. Most of the time they are special order depending on what size you are getting.

Not sure about Califrornia, but I purchased mine through Discount Tire Direct. Great service. Plus their site shows availability as well.

What size did you go with Zach? And I got mine off Treadepot.com. Ordered them day before yesterday and I'm already having them put on right now

Just got mine installed. Doesn't look like there's going to be any rubbing issues, but if I didn't have TC's tubular UCA's I'm pretty sure I would be rubbing on the stock UCA. Initial impressions are that they look pretty good, not quite as large as I thought there were going to be. Driving wise I noticed an immediate reduction in handling from the stock Rugged Trail 265/70's. I'm not really sure what's going on but I haven't checked the tire pressure yet. It's like there's a big delay in input versus when the truck actually moves and it's somewhat disconcerting how it does it. Feels very floaty. It's like the wheel itself changes direction but the tire takes a while to catch up and then whips over when it does. I'll check tire pressure tomorrow when it's not raining outside and see if that's maybe it.

The shop also tore up the Plasti-dip off the edges of the wheels and on at least one wheel actually legitimately damaged the wheel itself. Going to talk to them about that tomorrow.

255 85 16. I just decided the 285 75 16 generals I have aren't going to work for me. I don't have wheels that have enough back spacing and don't want to use spacers so I am selling them locally and picking up the 255 maxx tires. They will go on the truck and my KM2's that are the same size will go to the trailer, and as a spare. They still have about 40-50% so I will be set for awhile all around.

Solid choice. I was worried about these looking too skinny but they don't at all, I think they look great. Just want to figure out what this weird high speed squishy turn business is all about. You have any issues with that when you went 255 85?

I know what you mean but I never saw it as an issue of the tire size. It only happens to me when I have the RTT on top of the shell. Then the high speed turns seem a little more squishy. It may just be the extra height. IDK.

Looks great! I noticed the wheels in the pics, they tore the shit out of them  I had a few minor little spots when mine were installed but I didn't even bother they were so small.

Not sure about that feeling you're getting, probably a combination of the tread, PSI, width and just the change in feel.
