I think they did a great job with it (pending motor and efficiency). I owned a 2010 DCLB and really liked it, but always wanted a bit more of everything it had. Due to a change in circumstance, I now drive a 2002 chev reg cab long box. I does a few things waaaaay better than the taco.
Range- have done over 900km on a 130litre tank
    Bed size- well its 8'
Motor- small v8 that makes 270hp
Other than that, it pretty much blows.
Now the new taco will go farther, has a bit bigger (deeper) box, and more gogo, it seems almost a no brainer (big grill doesnt make me hate a better truck)
Only question is how much faster will a SC 2nd gen be than a stock 3rd gen?. Had a 1998 5speed SC 4runner and it was so awesome, not FAST, but fun as hell.

Thanks for the photos. This was the Edmonton show I'm presuming?

It's a nice looking truck overall, and the interior appointments will be nice, but the front grill is definitely an acquired taste and you can see where they've tried to bring the Tacoma's look more in line with that of the monster-toothed Tundra. I presumed the sport grill would be blacked out like it is with the 2nd gen...kind of odd if the default grill on the 2016 sports will be all blinged up like that.

If I didn't already have my ultra-lo-mile '14, I'd be looking at a '16 orange TRD O/R Access cab 4x4. Of course, it would need a levelling kit, bigger tires, and an aftermarket black grill!!:D

I totally agree with your post. The grille... not a big deal with me. Everything else I like, especially the interior layout

The limited model has much better looking rims and grille then this does.

Love the Orange. Going to look at it in person this weekend. I don't ask for much. Same towing capacity and heated mirrors and seats. Please Toyota?

I am not a fan of all the indentations on the panelling.

I love the rear quarter panels, bumper, and tailgate. All those lines match up very nicely.
It almost makes those taillights look okay seeing how the top of them match the tailgate edge.

Used to, picking a color was just picking a color. With all these new lines, we get to speculate which colors do the truck the most justice.

It's a similar size if that's what you're implying. Did you expect it to have airplane wings and autopilot? Or 6 wheels and the engine mounted to the top of the cab? They're both trucks and that's it.

I think the Off-road Access cab is still the best looking 2016 so far. This sport is way better looking than the Limited short box first revealed.

I think the grille looks fine but as others have said, Toyota, please get rid of the chrome insert! Looks like a 80s Buick.

Well considering I have never owned a Tacoma or a truck for that, it isn't an update for me, it is a whole new vehicle. And I highly doubt the TRD Sport will be $40k, my educated guess is probably $34k with 4x4, but my budget is under $40k so I was just saying if they go stupid and ask $40k for the TRD Sport I am still buying it.
