    Are you guys checking it by using a pry bar? I was under my truck the other day and found out that previous owner or someone didnt even have the LBJ castle nut tight! I was able to unscrew it by hand. hopefully it didnt mess anything up. I ended up torquing it down to think 102 or 110lb. cant remember then shoved a pry bar in there to see if there was any movement. couldnt get any vertical movement at all so hope everything is good.

    Not sure of any benefits other than undisturbed airflow. Main benefit is the ability to clean that little piece of real estate under the resonator/service the PCV valve.
    Better way would be to replace the entire intake tube with one designed for cleaner air flow.

    I checked and saw no rips in the boot. No rips, no play, Im hoping its good. but after seeing Monte's post I'm paranoid.

    Well I was diagnosing some bad side to side play at the wheels which i found out to be the steering rack guide, and so after I fixed that there was no side to side play. And I just didn't have a pry bar to check vertical play so I had no idea.
