installing speakers in 09 Access cab rear doors

Finally finished the install for my speakers. Speakers did not take long but playing around making grills did. Thanks Bass Mechanic for all your help and info.

BTW, what did you do for wires? Were you able to access and tap into the wires for the rear ceiling speakers? If so, how do you get at them? Does the headliner need to be removed or just released along the edges somehow?

 

Thanks, but after doing the first set I don't plan on doing a second set unless I decide I don't like them or decide to put bigger speakers in there.

As for the wires, I ran all new wires right up to the dash. I did look at trying to get under the head liner to try and see where the wires run to. I assume from what I could see that they must run towards the front and down the A-pillars to the dash. After looking at this I figured it would just be easier to run new wires and tie into the dash behind the stereo and disconnect the ceiling ones. Unbelieveable what a difference it makes in the sound. I also just put in a new Pioneer F700BT HU this past week. That makes a big difference. I think the next audio project is going to be a shallow mount 8" sub mounted in the middle between the front and rear consoles. Right now, I am working on mounting my inverter under the console and putting the outlets on the rear side of the front console.

 

I'm very interested in doing this as well. How did you know exactly where to cut the whole in the door panel without being able to see the speaker behind it?

Also, I can see the outline of the circle, but just can't figure out how to find exactly where the speaker is behind the panel. I don't want to be a 1/2" left or right and end up with an awkward oval that a grill won't hide.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

 

What I did was place the door panel in place to roughly find the center of the speaker and then with the panel back off drilled out a one inch hole. With the hole and the panel back in place, I could find exactly where the center of the speaker was and then marked the hole to cut it out. Don't try to cut the hole the exact size at first, get it close but a little smaller and then you can trim as needed to get an exact fit. Same thing with the grill panels, once you have the door panels cut out, use these holes to mark the cut out for the grills.
