    Hey Guys,

I know this is the "show off your mounatin bike" but i got a question that relates directly to bikes and tacomas and figured I'd check here first:

I haul my bikes in the back of my bed, and put them over the tailgate as seen in the picture following. I am looking to see if anyone has made any sort of "tire holder" for the rear tires when doing a setup like this? I was thinking of constructing one out of 2x4's which had slots for the rear tires of 6 bikes to fit actoss the tailgate. The reason I want to do this is when we shuttle the bikes shift left and right quite a bit and cause quite a bit of damage. I know im being lazy, but i wanted to see if someone has done this, if they could share their measurements / any pictures? It would be for a Longbox.

I was thinking something like seen in the link below, but sits lower to the ground in between the wheel wells and has slots for 6 bikes

    Thanks!!

I would attempt to do it at an angle. (higher in the middle lower at the gate) like a wedge
You'll need it to cradle most of the rear wheel in order to keep the bike from sliding.
And especially in DH rigs there is so much variance in BB height as well as chain guide clearance it would be hard to be universal.
But if that rack you linked was say 16" off the bed near the wheel arches, and only like 6" above the bed near the gate I would think it would clear most bikes

alternatively putting rubber pipe insulation along the rail of the tail gate would limit how much the bikes wanted to slide and wander
hell even using a rubber bed matt over a blanket. so the bikes' headtubes are riding on the rubber

    or maybe both

Here's my bike I ride on mtb trails :). 2015 Focus Mares. Bought it for the frame color and have since put force on it. Building some carbon tubeless wheels for it with American Classic hubs as we speak.

Just got back from Western NC again. Hit up Bent Creek and a lot of Dupont. God I love it out there.

Fortunately my wheels are compatible, so I just need the XD driver. My cassette and chainrings will be done by the end of this year, so it will be a good time for we to make the switch. Or buy a new bike with it stock :)

Most decent hubs have an available XD driver freehub on the market. Just swap it and you're good! Also a lot of guys are running 'Scramano'. Just use the XTR cassette if you can handle a 40T

Edit: 'Sramano' :) got it mixed up from customers saying scram all the time instead of sram lol..

you should be good then, most of the recent easton stuff is fairly interchangeable. May even call Easton to make sure though. They have had great CS in the past unless it has changed since the RaceFace buy out.

What kind of riding are you going to do?

I like the Gary Fisher. However, it's a small, so make sure it fits correctly before you buy. A google search will find plenty of articles about fitting a bike, but be aware that road / mtb bikes fit differently.
