The front wind deflector is adjustable. From what I have heard those that get the lightbar cutout have to move it up the the highest setting until they get the bar. In the middle or low setting air goes through the cutout and under the crossbars causing turbulence.

With it on the higher setting it is fine.

Turnaround time is getting longer and longer right now. Probably safe to say 2 weeks plus. Finishing up the group buy and keeping up on other current orders has me pretty busy. I also am having a hard time keeping up on inventory so depending on how fast things sale there may be a lag between when I have more parts in.

Can I get a picture or pictures of how people mounted their 40" light bar? like close up of what you bolted it to to get it to line up with the cut out deflector

you are correct. i currently have the deflector at the lowest setting without the lightbar. wind noise and turbulence is noticeable.

    30".
assemble the mounting arms onto the light bar.
center the lightbar on the crossbar and measure dimensions of where the lightbar mounting holes end up. measure twice.
use a center punch and mark the center of your drill location.
drill through the crossbar and mount using heretic-provided bolts (size M10, pitch 1.5 mm). the photo shows the standard nuts they sent, but i opted for security tamper-proof nuts. i bought a large washer for the backside.
waiting on my OTRATTW switch and remaining tamper-proof bolts for mounting the crossbar to the rack itself.

    hope that helps.

^ that does help. I have both style mounts for the light bar from heretic and intitally had the other ones on just trying to puzzle it together thinking to myself; it's not. Quite. Right. Lol

Finally finished installing my caprac. Final addition of the basket was installed while camping over Easter weekend. Starting to get everything organized with mounting locations. Looks a little high compare to my cab but in the future plan on a cabrac to even things out. Thanks Zach.

for light bar reference...40" heretic w/ cutout

    aligned

    marked and punched for drilling..

run the provided hardware through...loosely fit the top bolt and measured for bottom hole to be drilled...note my version is slightly different on the deflector mounting, production models will have the slot for both bolts...

I was thinking about quick fists but with my high rise cap the outside rack edge is still over the cap. I think the shovel wouldn't clear the cap. I might have to fab up some brackets.

looks like you have room at the rear. have you seen what jteerlink did, mounting the shovel on the rear bar?
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...design-studio-roof-racks-92.html#post10015652

you have the basket, so you could mount it to that crossbar or the caprac crossbar.

don't know how you manage storage in the bed under your shell, but have you thought of mounting the shovel in your bed using the bedrails? i'm not a fan of mounting all the tools up on a roof-top rack. my hi-lift and shovel are inside the bed under the shell. dog and gear still fit back there just fine.

Thanks for the ideas. My shell has a sleeping platform with organization. I decided to keep my Hi Lift in my shell because its heavier than the shovel. I think my shovel is wider than my rack so I'd rather have it on the side. I'll probably get some quick fists to try.

Look up box rockets build thread and the old brackets he used to sell on his bedracks for shovels. They would be perfect. Swagman I think is the brand. They are made for bicycle tubes

Does anyone that has just the toprac installed notice any wind noise when it is empty?
