    I don't think a first gen will hold a FWC and pull my trailer with atvs. I like the 2nd gens but if I'm going to have a payment it will be on a full size. Not really debating anything just waiting.

    What I found most interesting about the one on LROR is the 1st line in the description: "This Superflow MV-50 Air Compressor is also known as the Masterflow MF-1050 and the Smittybilt MV50."

    If this is true, then the HFT is a 2nd gen clone of the Superflow MV50. Although it could be just like the results of my research on RTTs. They are all made by the same 4 or 5 manufacturers in China, with the only difference being the name silk screened on the tent.

    I did like that write up S. Penguin shared that included the air-filter mod for the MV50. That & the LROR price being the same as HFT was the deciding factors for me.

    Never had an issue. Planning on another one for this truck. Was going to get a clickright and decided to get what actually works in all conditions. A full drop Detroit has better road manners than most think and needs no maintenance or special gear oil.
    Your driving style will change just a little but it's more so you can avoid the locker bang going through corners. There is nothing wrong with them on the snow and ice , in fact your traction and control improves.
    Just like any thing else that is driven , you need to learn to work within limitations. You have currently been running with a open/open ride and have unknowingly been driving within it's limitations, or lack of traction on the tire that needs it.

    The selectable lockers like ARB, those will kill you on snow and ice because it's more of a spool when locked whereas the Detroit will slip when needed.

    X2 I'm putting a Detroit in my truck its sitting on the bench along with gears I had one in my s10 and I never had any issues in the snow it actually did better in the snow I could actually get going on hills and what not rather than just a one wheel peel till it hit pavement

    When locked the ARB IS a spool. The Detroit won't "slip". It will never "slip". It's open when no power is being put to the diff. It's locked, like a spool, whenever there's ANY power sent to the diff. The ONLY time a Detroit is not locked is under coast.

    I LOVE Detroits. If it's a daily driven rig, spend the extra and get the ARB.

    Correct, let off the throttle and it disengages. It is not locked like a spool though and will ratchet. The early versions did so with an incredibly loud BANG, the newer ones have softened a bit.

    It's just another version of the Ford VS Chevy debate.... Go with what you like, what you have witnessed in use, and feel comfortable spending your money on. :D
