I read 8000lbs too. I also like the new cab layout with the new design on the dash and Upfitter switches. Have to wait and year and a half so plenty of time to start saving.

Isn't the Raptor something like $25k more than a Taco? You could put half that into a Taco and put the Raptor to shame. Also, I wouldn't want to go off roading in such a big truck.

    Some stuff...
I get a half-dog every time I see one - they're nice rigs! Expensive, but nice.

Edit: Wish they made them in manual trans.

They are sick looking for sure and probably rip shit.
I like my Tacoma though. If I was Rich I'd have one, along with my Tacoma :)

I want one, yes.... at the same time, it's still a Ford. (mixed feelings)

They're badass. But I can honestly say I don't think I'd ever want to drive one daily. Tacoma with a couple inches of lift and beefy tires... perfect.

The F150 models with the max tow package tow 11k lbs but I believe that ties you to the Ecoboost engine. Mine has the tow package and the 5.0L and I'm rated to 8k lbs.
I have thought about it but there's no way I could afford the Raptor and I'd hate to put gas in it and park it anywhere in the city. They do have badass written all over them but I wouldn't come close to using a truck like that to even half of it's potential.

Last year, I traded my Taco for an F150 4x4 with the 5.0L V8 and have been happy with my decision. I thought power-wise the Tacoma pulled fine, the suspension was crap though. The Ford obviously has more power, is bigger so it tows better, as it should. If you tow frequently and for long distances, one thing that is nice on the F150, 36 gallon fuel tank. The downside for most is physical size. The F150 is a bigger vehicle, it's tougher to get around cities, trails, etc, so the Tacoma is more of an ideal size. We'll see how it does with longevity, but so far I'm happy with the new truck. I went with the V8 over the Ecoboost because I'm not overly comfortable with all the new tech that goes into that engine. I prefer a plain ole naturally aspirated V8 and the real world mileage between the 2 isn't really that far off.

That double cab Raptor in the original post will probaby cost $70,000. If you have the money go for it.

A '17 Raptor is probably in my future.

I mean yeah i guess if you took out that 5.7 liter i force engine out of the tundra and put in the 6.2 liter v8 that is in the raptor. The raptor is already set up so nice and then if you add the Roush off road package you are set.

One reason not to buy the '17 Raptor: Twin Turbo V6. Now being reported with a HP output of 450. And it is a V6. and will sound like a V6. In a truck. A bad ass truck. Ford should have stuck with the 6.2.

Yeah that is the whole reason to buy the raptor... It needs the 6.2 V8

They look cool, but way too common (I see more Raptors on a daily basis than Tacomas!), way too flashy, way too expensive, and I would never utilize it to its capabilities. So...not the truck for me.

I've heard reports of them basically snapping in half when off road, so if you're all about that go for it.

What do you think would be better off road, a big, heavy big block or a light V6? And have you ever actually heard the Ecoboost with decent exhaust? Of course it doesn't sound like a big V8, but it sounds pretty awesome when you hear those turbos spool up.
Read the whole report... The frames were bending because people were airing them out. There aren't a lot of trucks that would take that kind of abuse without modification. I also believe the issue has been resolved.

And by airing them out you mean, jumping them like real trophy trucks?

Yep. The frames were bending on the landing. You can find quite a few videos of those idiots on youtube, airing out brand new $60k trucks because it was advertised as an 'off road ready truck'.
