So about three weeks ago I traded in my 13 pre runner for 15 off road. One week later I did breather mod and took it out for my first serious off road experience. It was fun and scary at the same time.

Now when I got home from work on Thursday. I hear a squeak coming from the rear end as I was getting off the truck. Now I now I gained some weight but its only a 3 week old truck. I did some research and found I had a case of the dreaded squeaky leaf.

My pre runner never had the squeaky leaf disease but then again I never did any serious off roading except this:

    2556c46df2fc9b2655fcd2d357a4d0d3_a665b223c2a4c97f7861697c988649a3b60c01bd.jpg

That is another story. that was when I learned that I really needed 4x4.

Anyways so this is my new taco with the squeaky leaf disease:

The noise was coming from the driver's side rear wheel. So I searched and noticed people putting bike's tire tube in between leafs but mine already have a rubber or some type of insert in between, so I read about using white lithium grease and t worked. No more squeaky.

My question is why was it squeaking if the truck is so new? Should I have dealer fix it permanently under warranty? Or was it just dirt stuck in between causing the noise?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is the leaf that I sprayed. No more noise but will the white lithium grease last? Or more importantly cause any damage to the shims between the leafs? since its like a rubber or plastic.

What the heck? So much for an off road model. Just kidding.

What had happened was......That I first went into a trail just to do some very light off roading. Once. I wanted to turn around, friends were saying the trail is a loop but we underestimated the size of the loop and it ended up being some serious off roading. The Taco did it without any hiccups. It was me with the sweaty palms that was scared ass S*#%. Now if I knew my truck was gonna squeal after the first and probably only off road experience I would've never done it.

I spent 2 hrs underneath the truck the following day cleaning it and that is the reason I don't wanna do more off roading at least until the truck is paid off.

What can I do to keep the undercarriage from corroding? Can I keep using the white lithium grease on a rag to wipe all metal parts?

Had a friend put anti seize compound between his leafs and that did the trick.
