Yes, it's all perfectly legal to drive. :D

Mostly for MPG and some for learning about aerodynamics and building. Only way to get experience is to do or learn, right? ;)

No plans to paint the trailer to match the truck at this stage. Maybe after when I learn how to fab in fiberglass or something. ;)

Here's a quick view of the hitch and the air shocks.

I guess one could see it that. ;)

However, you can always take the cap off and turn it back to a normal non-aerodynamic truck again. ;)

Good question! I don't think Toyota makes a Prius truck yet but I have seen pictures of someone who's put a Prius body on a lifted truck frame. I can't see how that would improve the gas mileage of the truck though. ;)

Congrats on starting one of the most active New Members threads I've ever seen.

So many of us raid the same parts boxes trying to make our trucks stand out. Congrats again on making one really unique ride!

Welcome to TW OP! It's cool you've been able to manage 30mpg out of your yota. Neat idea you have come up with.

Thanks for the warm welcome! :D

Maybe one day I'll be able to transition to a more durable medium if I decide to keep at it. Coroplast is a fantastic medium to work with and very forgiving when it comes to impacts or ground contact. ;)

I see, I see. I bet you drive 2000 miles though! I had an ultragauge but it told me what I already know and already do slow accelerations, long time to break, and stay under the 2 in rpms. So I sold it.

I still can't get over how awesome this thing is haha

I know it's different than what others would attempt but it is rather exciting when the gas mileage numbers start to climb. The single wheel trailer is a blast to tow around. You can't jack-knife this thing! ;)

How's it going Joe? Haha that it would. Yeah but being in a long distanace relationship, gas milage is great part in that so better gas milage might make happier girlfriend ;)

Hey, I saw one of your threads on another site with the gap between the camper shell and the truck. Did that have any affect on gas milage? And was the tape removable/didn't cause paint damage?

That was early in my attempt to eliminate/reduce the amount of water between the cab and topper glass. It wasn't meant for increasing fuel mileage at all as the air pressure there is low. That has since morphed into my front access covers on my aerocap. Those access doors perform double duty to minimize the rain between the rear window and aerocap as well as allowing me access to deploy my custom built cab cover which keeps the heat from building up in the cab. The cab cover also keeps bird droppings, snow, ice, and dew off of the cab, windshield, and mirrors. I will use my cab cover to cover up for privacy and blocking those darn overhead lights when I rest up at rest stops, too! If I don't pin the access doors, it only takes about 30 seconds to fully deploy the cab cover by myself and about 2 minutes to put it away. Wind actually helps when I'm deploying the cab cover instead of hindering like all other covers. ;)

    IMG_3961_zps8e66fff9_c24fcf0cf2f66b0b3f1a0f6dc90847c64b2f375b.jpg

When the access doors are open, they look like air brakes! :D
    IMG_3954_zps42a8734d_56b2d34b43ea2230000e7cacd5544a067888a5b9.jpg

The tape did leave some residue that I had to clean off with some Goof-off. :(
