FYI, the RED and AMBER LEDs on the V2W run slightly brighter when compared side-by-side with the V1.

Everyone may not already be familiar with your product(s), but click on the thread out of curiosity, only to scroll scroll scroll.... Perhaps a link to the item description if there is another thread already talking about it.

 

Any idea in regard to the 2012?

 

From the pictures I've seen, it's different. It will likely work for the 2012s but we do not know the wiring code as of yet. You need only to connect to the dimmer circuit with the appropriate polarity.

 

I've heard through the grapevine that you just installed the new, black, hard wired version of your product on a 2012 Tacoma, today. The 2012 Tacoma owner said the black unit "looks factory" and "matches perfectly in color" to his interior plastic. He says the hard wired unit works flawlessly on his 2012 and looks terrific. Can you give tell us more now that the install has been done on a 2012 Tacoma? Is the wiring / install on the 2012 fairly easy, etc..

 

Update: The first 2012 has been fitted with a V2W sucessfully. It turns out that the wiring code is the same as the previous year models (Green and Green/White).

I have the unit with the batteries , is there any way to retro fit that unit to work off of my trucks power. Would like use it more then I do but don't want to use up all the power in the batteries

 

Unfortunately, no. The V1 is a 6V system. The V2W is a 12V regulated circuit. We understand the possible frustration on this for those wanting to upgrade which is why we are combining TW discounts with loyalty discounts = $20.00 OFF a V2W for you.

Now, the good news: IF you purchase a V2W, the V1 will still mount (though not electrically) to the V2W mounting plate. Just in case you're feeling like a different color set on a given day.

I installed this light in less than 15 minutes and it is very effective in luminatating the cup holder area. Very clean look.

Make sure you clean the mounting area from any dash dressing such as armor all and etc.
