Yeah, most use the T in the white jug. The blue is a synthetic blend, don't remember what the other is.

Yes blue is synthetic. I run the conventional because it's cheaper.

awesome. I also think im going to sell the 500... i mean it's one hell of a bike to ride, just not in tight trails like im riding now. Thought maybe that i would be able to handle it out but ill be in the market for a 05+ yz250 in a month or so.

You'll love the yz, I just ran my first enduro on the yz250 and it was a boss. The trails were tight woods with lots of elevation change and frozen clay with a thin layer of slimy clay on top. Needless to say I was on the ground before I could blink in the 3rd or 4th corner

Re-tuned my "traction control" and finished the remaining 70 miles without too much incident. Just have to click up a gear and lug it, it loves that.

I had one 2-stroker, a Fuji Rabbit scooter. Fuji Heavy Industries, aka Subaru. Bought it for $50 in 1991, possibly worth $2000 today. It was a decent little machine, 150cc, 3-spd twist handle shifter, top speed about 50-55mph.

The lesson learned is hoard everything.

    You won't be sorry. I'm glad I got my 13 YZ250.

I actually went riding today at a local practice track. Had a great time and I've finally got my bike setup working well. Had tons of confidence in the bike. All around fun day on a motocross track.

Yea that how I ride the 500, a gear high and lug it. My plan for a yz I pick up will be simple, bigger tank, 9oz flywheel weight and then get the suspension dialed.
Happy to hear this. I Almost got a250 instead of the 500 but got excited about all the power. It's nice and all, just hard to control

I'd suggest a tooth or 2 up on the rear sprocket too.

I run 14/45 gearing and a Rekluse on my AF500. works perfectly even on tight singletrack since its so light and nimble, but power like a new 450!
I'll be racing my 06' YZ295 at the end of the month in NHHA Championship, back on the smoker!!

Heres a pic from yesterdays race, I'm passing a 2 stroke, lol.

I'm actually running a tooth down on the rear. 14/49 gearing. Gives me more use of 2nd for jumps out of corners. Tried a 51 in the back and didn't like it personally. 14/50 is stock.

I also have the 8.4 ounce GYTR flywheel on mine. Like this setup way better than a bolt on. 100% MX bike btw.

Yeah I can see that for mx. For woods it's nice having that tractor like first gear for the hairy stuff.

Whats the purpose of the oil check bolts on the engine case if they spew oil when only 250ml is put in? The case takes ~830ml and the manual says to add until it starts flowing out of the check bolt. Seems backwards to me.

I don't even use the check bolt. I just add the 750ml of oil the manual calls for when I change my oil.

it had a tiny crack and it got worse obviously. i had to ride it back and it was only getting worse the more i rode it so it was inevitable that it was going to be bad, just not expecting it to be that bad.

    hows that 250 treating you?
i only use it to check how dirty the oil is

Jeez that's bad. I bet it sounded horrible.

250 is great, it got me through a 100 mile enduro yesterday (67ish actual miles without mileage resets). It was buried to the top of the rear wheel in mud at one point, that was fun getting it out of that. Pro tip, ALWAYS carefully pick your line through the mud hole sections!
