Looked at a 2007 Trd Quad cab at a local Toyota dealer and the truck looks pretty clean. But the only problem is a young guy drove it and had a stone chip through the rad and it slowly leaked out and cause damage. The dealer put a new block in. Would you guys stay away from this or having a new block would want you to buy it more. Truck has 26000 miles on it warranty for 19 months. Just wondering how he took care of the rest of the truck.

... ^^^ ... a 2007 model still has 19 more months on which warranty ... the 36K bumper to bumper or drive train warranty ???

If it was originally a late new vehicle seller as a 2007 model .... it could be the 36K warranty and that would make it more worth while, IMO.

Unless it's being discounted due to it's "status" I would stay away from it. If you're paying full used price, find one that doesn't have a past issue.

It does seem strange that the block was replaced and not the heads. I would ask for the repair details to check, but again, that's assuming you're getting a discount. Now, if they replaced the block and the heads, then maybe. Still a risk no matter how you look at it though.

Was the block replaced because the rod came thru. If so stay as far as you can and look for something else.

You need to know if they just replaced the block with your internals or did the install a new or remanufactured short block [ stay away from reman. v6 will not support cylinder bore.] You really need to know the history of the damage and what was installed. If you can't get this info then run don't walk to the nearest exit.
