I want to get a portable CB for the occasional trail ride that we might go on. I do not want to mount anything in the truck permanently. Does anyone have a suggestion or recommendation for a good, portable CB unit or some system that I can easily remove from the truck when I do not need it? Give me some pros and cons.

Any one that has an external antennea connecter should be good. I have an old as shit "Emergency" CB....at one time, I think it was sold on TV for $19.99......And it works fine for trail use. When hooked up to a magnet mount, I have had plenty of range even when in the middle of nowhere, I could hear people a few miles away in the dunes, and a good 1/2 to 1 mile in the mountains.

I think Mountainwolfpup is running it, and he swears by it. I have a couple friends running with it as well, and I havent heard them complain. In fact....The last time I was out with them all, Mountainwolfpup was about 1 mile behind me, in a valley, and I heard him say "This gawd dam Dodge wont get out of my way"....VERY clearly....:)

Yes they do. I cant remember the modle number, but I think its a little less axpensive than the midland, with a few less features, but the same power output.
