I just bought a 2013 Toyota Tacoma prerunner and I noticed when I start it up it idles at 1000 Rpm. Was wondering if that's normal or should I have it looked at?

If mine is cold it will idle around 1200 and slowly descend.

On a cold start my 4 cyl will rev to 2k, then drop from there.

I've never seen a vehicle that didn't rev higher when it was started. It's normal.

My 15 starts at around 1500 RPM then drops to below 1000 after roughly 10 seconds or when put in gear if sooner. I'd say its normal I can't think of a vechile that dose not start at a higher RPM and then lower after several seconds or upon being put in gear. The only type of engine I can think of of hand that dose not start at a higher RPM and then drop are gas turbine engines.

Sometimes it starts as high as 2000 RPM and then drops.

Is the A/C in the on position? that will also make it idle higher.
