Ford is moving toward stop-start engines. How will this work out when fooling around in the muck? Can it be turned off? I'd hate to have my engine turn itself off when I'm in a precarious spot. Or could it be that new Fords aren't intended to go off road?

Dont kid yourself. People are buying f350 for extra towing capacity. Raptor - for looks only. Old substance vs form thingy. :)

Oh i've seen those. I haven't read any reports, just hearsay about the frame issue. I was under the impression that the frames were getting jacked up from moderate off road use, like the truck was designed for, not going all Dukes of Hazzard with them. When that's the case, yeah the frame is going to buckle, what frame out there isn't going to do that.

I'd love to have a Raptor, it's my dream truck, but damn they are spendy.

On full sized trucks this feature is only used on the small ecoboost engine (2.7 L V6) as far as I know. I would be amazed if Ford tried to put it on the Raptor. BTW our neighbor has a 2015 Platinum with the 3.5 L Ecoboost and we have a 2015 XLT XTR with the 5.0 L V8 and neither of those motors turn off in town at all...

My wifes, well our F150 I guess, gets 20 mpg highway and 18 mpg overall. That engine has no DOD or any of that shit yet gets nearly 400 HP and LBS of torque off the crank. That's better than my Tacoma stock. Toyota really needs to up their game, I would be more worried about them than Ford as far as engine technology goes. Ford is leading the pack.

Okay seriously if you jump any truck 90ft your going to bend the frame! Take a Tacoma and jump it 90ft and I bet it comes out a lot worse then that! Until you've driven one you can't describe what its like. You have to be real stupid to bend a raptor frame, it's hard to do with that fox set up. Plus the new one will have 3.0 Fox shocks and the alum will make it a lot stronger. You can't beat the value will everything being under warranty.

The Raptor is an incredibly bad ass truck. However, if I was going to drop that kind of coin on a truck, it would be on a Ram 2500 with a Cummins. At least then I'd be able to use it for real work.

You mean you'd be able to use it as a real work truck between visits (or tows) to the shop :D Cummins is great, but Dodge still built the rest of it...

The Dodge Ram has surpassed GM in terms of reliability and quality lately. The 2013 JD Power Vehicle Reliability Survey showed the Ram division of Dodge had a better ranking than the rest of Dodge, plus Ford, Chevy, and GMC.

Now, if Toyota ever offered the Tundra in a 3/4 ton with a turbo diesel...

JD Power gives bought awards. Just saying. Rams have performed rather poorly at my workplace.

    Yes sir
I hate the integrated dual exhaust into the bumper on rams, makes the truck look terrible. But in my opinion rams are terrible looking... :D

If I was going to drop 50k on a truck it wouldn't be a new Raptor. I would rather SAS my truck and still have money to spend on other mods. But thats me.
