Seems almost like problem with switch. Pulled dash power from 2 places and got same result. Just left dash tap unpowered fer now so can actually use switches. If I run power straight to the switch instead of tap and it triggers the relay I'm gonna be mad yo because switch be broke

Dammit man. I hooked Up one switch, just had a short lead fer relay but not connected to relay. Turn ignition on, independent light don't come on with dash lights, but the lower light comes on and the relay out is hot with switch thrown. If I can't figure it this evening I will just get the compressor and locker switches hooked up so they work and worry about the rest later.

You're talking about the arb compressor switch wiring, right?
If so, I documented my struggles with it here.

Basically, because Toyota uses ground-based control of the dash light dimming you tap the ground from the switches into the ground on the rheostat and then the blue-white wire to anything that has a positive 12v and the red-yellow wire to anything that's live when the ignition is in the "acc" mode.

Although it looks like you've changed your wiring loom and I'm not sure what you did there, so maybe my info won't help in which case ignore me. :p

I think you're right and the issue is the rheostat. It is not working because I have a different ground. I just looked at my '85 and I had the independent switch lights hooked to a deck lamp switch wire, so I will do that this evening and should be good.

Basically I tied all of my switches ignition, independent light, and ground feeds into the ARB harness to simplify it for me. I had one unused locker switch connection so I cut those off and tied more in.

Thanks Shawman, I should get it sorted out now.

Ah gotcha. Well simplifying the wiring with the harness certainly makes sense! If your plan for tying into the deck lamp switch wire doesn't work, though, you might try connecting all those grounds on their own, independent of the compressor harness. I can't remember off-hand but I think there might be some weird wiring going on in that harness that might not handle all of those separate grounds. It was built for positive-based dimming, after all.

I hope it works out! Can't wait to see pictures of this beast wheeling.

Hell yea man, I enjoyed it!

The steering was horrible on Saturday, fluid was not circulating. Finally after I parked it for a bit, cranked it up and the steering wheel magically turned with ease. It must of finally burped some air.

The only issue is tire rubbing. Need mo chop chop front and rear.
