Well, here are some stills from my video clip of the muffler and new exit. As you can see it barely is under the bed so it is well away from the shock body. It is a Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow... Video is on its way as well.

I don't know. This is what happened almost two years ago. I got the headers and when I installed them, since I had two cats you remove the upper cat and replace with the headers. But when I went to connect it to the 2nd cat it was to short. I tried to pull the entire exhaust forward which was a real bitch. Eventually I ended up getting an extension made so I can put the 2nd cat and muffler back in the original location. I also threw my check engine light and it's been on ever since until a couple of days ago when I found a mod to trick the computer to make it go away. I now am in need of a Air/ Fuel sensor. It worked fine before I installed it. But hey I do have 200.....+ miles on it so I guess it's just due.
But i've been running rich too. And the transmission dipstick I had to disconnect it and reshape it to fit in-between the tubes. Then again I have an auto so I don't know how it is for a manual. I did also start running a little hotter but nothing to bad. Ive been running on one cat but smog is right around the conner so my main focus is to try and get the headers tuned in for smog. I just might have to get some custom cats made don't know. If you know someone that can help you get it tuned in that's a big deal. Right now i wish i went with the doug to save the headaches. but now it's there so I'm going to try and make it work. Sorry to disappoint but this is what i've been dealing with. hopefully your situation is different and they slap right in and work flawlessly for ya. I hope so! Good luck i'll be watching to see how it turns out.

But I did see an increase in power and I can now pull my own weight weight in the fast lane. You'll do better on the hills but not like a 6.

Edit: Don't give up hope i'm going to get the sensor here in a few days and i'll let you know about any changes

So which header did you go with? I have the 3rz longheader made for 95-04s. If you went with this header then I see why you'd have a problem in getting your exhaust to work with it. From LCE's website in regards to the 95-04 3rz: "LCE 2RZ/3RZ header kits are direct fit on single catalytic trucks only. Trucks with dual catalytic converter applications will require modification to use LCE's header kit. Call our Technical Dept. with any questions." Don't know which header you have or if you already knew that but figured it may be worth posting just in case there was some confusion there.

First off if you have only the single cat you are safe! Install and have fun. But Yes I bought my truck in Cali so I had two cats. But now I live in Co. So that's why I went with the long tube. Now i'm in the process of doing the mods. I was unaware if you where a single cat or a double. I should of asked before i opened my mouth. But you are good and you'll like them. I did like the increase of power I got from them.

Hey man I appreciate that you were quick to sound the alarm, anytime you've had a difficult experience it's a godsend to the rest of the world if you share your story and possibly save everyone else a bit of time and hassle.

Sorry to hear you've been struggling so much with the header, it's really the kind of bolt-on you expect to be a simple matter of adding and enjoying. I lived in cali for a few years and can happily say that I don't miss it! God trying to get a ranger smogged out there scarred me for life. I passed the emissions tests with flying colors but overall failed smog due to having 2 errors codes. Like running lean is worse for the environment..

Best of luck with getting your situation worked out, keep us posted on all your cat-fabbing smog-passing misadventures!
