aires 3D mats, scan gauge II, rear differential breather relocation, and bakflip G2 bed cover.
The numbers are going to be so good they are holding off releasing the information so they can get rid of the 2015 inventory. That would be my luck--Just bought a 2015 4x4.

The Tundra? Those are built in Texas. Or where you talking about the engine? I don't claim to know a whole lot about where the engines are assembled. Those little white stickers at the dealer lots where they say where the parts are from probably have that info. "Country of origin, engine : Japan or whatever". It would be interesting to see what exactly the 2015 4runner, 2015 tacoma, and 2015 Tundra say.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
    4runner -Japan
    Tundra v6-Japan
    Tundra v8-US
Tacoma - most likely going to be US

    Just the engines.

    Pretty logical approach for Toyota.

I was talking about the engine. I googled a bit and it looks like 1GR Japan production was consolidated to Tahara in 2008 or 2009 and US 1GR production has always been at TMMAL. 4Runner and FJ are from the Tahara plant as well as the Land Cruiser Prado and 200 series LC. Considering there are only 2 plants building the 1GR, it makes sense that Tundra would get a Japan sourced 1GR when it went dual VVT but Taco was stuck with the single VVT 1GR due to TMMAL never getting the update.

My guess is that they were already way into the 1GR update at Tahara when the economy tanked. Taco probably lagged a year or two and was a casualty of the economy.

I am hoping you're right about this. It does seem like a plausible scenario.

    Wouldn't you like to know!
Rode to FT. Worth this past weekend to see the Nascar race with my buddy's dad in his 2014 Hemi with(8-speed transmission) and he got 26.2 MPG going 75-80mph! I was totally envious at that because my Taco only gets 18.5 on a good day. But I for one am not a Ram fan lol

I don't feel Toyota is in any hurray to get into a HP race with GM. If GM wants to rate their engine at 300 plus hp at 6800 rpm, let them. The 4.0 was not the most powerful motor yet it's actual performance was more then adaquate. I would expect similar numbers for the new motor. The power numbers should be close with the big jump in mpg. Of course, any jump over the thirsty 4.0 is indeed welcome.

But the Toyota was one of the most efficient trucks with more HP to the wheels than most small V8 trucks... that's why everyone loves the 4.0 it's just old... I'll take a HP race with a mpg race, we win..... competition is good....

I get that torque is a little over rated given the appropriate transmission. I have a couple of tractors ( kubota L3400 hst, and L2800 manual trans) and with a hydrostatic or 8 speed gear box on a vehicle even with a limited top speed, it's really as much about horsepower as torque given they are interrelated regardless. Torque numbers at the motor are not even a topic of conversation with most tractors.

. But still, bumping along at 75 mph at just a little over 2k seems more advantageous to economy. There are just too many variables in the new Taco to really give the final hp and mileage numbers justice. It's all just a guess right now. The only thing we know for sure is, it won't be 350 hp and 350 lb ft of torque and 30 mpg highway. If it is, I will be the first in line to trade my 2015...;-( or try to convince my wife to trade here Venza in for a 2016 Trk. And if it is, GM is in line for another bail out.

Real close to the Highlander, I am guessing...

Won't be much improvement over the current model...no need to be sad spice if you already own one. :) Plus the out going truck is much better looking.

That's what I'm guessing for mpg, some guys say worrying about MPG is ridiculous because it's a truck but, my buddy and I just went up north about 160 miles. I used 10 gallons(with my current tune) he used 8, to me 2 less gallons of gas in 160 miles is huge, he got almost 20mpg with 32" ST maxx tires on his 2015 4runner. His truck is rated for more HP but is slower than the Tacoma but gets better mpg....

I'm excited for the mpg gains but mixed on the performance gains but we just have to wait and see....

The chief engineer said that the vehicle still has to be tested as per standards for hp torque and fuel economy. Remember this is still a preproduction vehicle and their is still some work to do before it goes on sale.

25 mpg highway, best case scenario for the V6. So many people thinking they are going to get 30+ MPG with the new Tacoma. Not gonna happen.

Agree. It's still a freek'n truck and other then putting in a diesel, I don't see how anything is getting 30 mpg, even with a four cylinder. Now, lest we forget, MOST trucks are sold with 4 wd.
