Yeah, if I can't keep it on campus then a ton of students park on this hill and at the bottom is the new campus police station so hopefully that'll slow down any crime.

Ill be doing as much wheeling as I can, I've been talking to the NorCal guys on here and they said there is a lot of good trails but its a bit further drive.

    Hopefully it does!
Yeah Northern California has a good amount of trails and forest stuff too. Southern is your desert stuff. Im sure you can get a good amount of trail runs in while youre there too. See how different it is compared to WA. Im originally from Southern California and grew up racing dirt roads and stuff haha.

Well shes actually in Carson but thats awesome! I always just say Reno since usually people know more of where that is. My dads side of the family is there so its nice that they are somewhat close yet still far enough away

Ill definitely have a hammock! But ill end up sleeping in the bed of the truck probably if I ever do. I really want to head up to Gold lake it looks like an awesome trail and camping area

Haha I do that with my home town in CA. Nice my Dad's side of the family is there too haha!
Thatd be sick, ive never been up around that area so wouldnt know. But definitely would suggest getting out to Tahoe lake. That area is awesome! Spent a couple weeks up at North Star one year, the village is sick and the snow is amazing.

I was pretty sure the older tacos had better LSDs because they were mechanical?
    Anyway,
05 and early years had some growth issues, can't remember what
07 was last year of being able to disable airbag with a key maybe? Might have only been 05.
08 was last year before they started to add electronic aids like VSC. Some models have DAC
09 was first year of ATRAC,VSC, RSCA, non-mechanical auto LSD, backup camera, and LED tails. They also add the additional switch bank under the climate controls. This is also the last year at the NUMMI plant. Some feel that there might be bad products around this time due to the economy and the plant closure
10 had the honeycomb grill and I think this is the year where all the airbag stuff is on par with the current model
Somewhere like 11 or 12 they added the emissions thing that helps warm the motor or something, I really don't know much about it
12 they changed the bumper and there's the pointless TX editions
14 they may have introduced something called trailer sway control
15 is supposed to be a lot of creature comforts and maybe newer engine tech? Also might look like a 4R. Still not out yet

Awesome thanks for all the info man! Have to do some more research to find a good year to look for but in the end probably comes down to cost:(
I have an 06 right now so i want something newer than that but we will see what i can find.

Lake Tahoe is amazing!! Well usually.. I got certified as a scuba diver there in sand harbor. But the water level is so low it's crazy, usually it's as low as it is now in October my uncle said.. But yeah up in the sierras there are a ton of trails and good places to go. If I lived in California Id want to live around there.
My dad and I actually both got blood clots that went through our hearts into our lungs at kirkwood, haven't been back since haha he got it a lot worse than me

I thought he said something about transferring his mods over and having them be compatible. Also 1st gen DC is kinda small for a growing family.

Congrats on the relocation! While you're correct about gangs and hookers, for the most part, they should leave you alone. i've delivered there a few times to various stores, super early in the morning, and not had any problems. There's lots of trails up around the shasta area, ive seen then going by on US-97, and so wanted to take my semi truck offroading to see what is up that trail. But then... Anyway, you can also think about the Sierra/Nevadas, Beautiful place to offroad, just bring some chains, cause California freaks out over a single snowflake on the road and makes everybody chain up, it's stupid. But don't forget about the Legendary Rubicon Trail. That's buried somewhere up there, i've heard that's a great few days of good offroading. bring a friend!

Hmm, mine's a 2008, and it has VSC and RSCA, as well as HAC and DAC. i've seen the lights on the dash light up as i put things into offroad mode. 4x4Hi/Lo RR diff lock, etc... it also disables Auto LSD. but i do not have A-Trac.
    All the abbreviations!!!

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Mike, I actually think all access cabs still have the ability to turn off the air bag. I know my 06 access cab did.

    Opps! You're correct!
I guess I should read just little more thoroughly.

Im still debating on even taking my truck down there. As much as I really want to the most off road it'll see is maybe once a month so it'll rack up nothing but highway miles and last thing i want to do is have it broken in to.. Just thinking about taking my brothers old Subaru and not having to worry. Ill be exploring the area so better mileage and a smaller car would be a huge plus, and its AWD at least so I won't have to worry about chaining up. My parents will keep it here and my dad will occasionally take it off road.
My truck is no where near ready to try the rubicon trail haha

    Whatchutalkinboutwillis???

The group I run/wheel with did Rubicon last year (I wasn't able to schedule it in):

    89 Trooper on 33"s and 3" lift and sliders/skids,
    04 Tacoma DCSB 33"s and 3" lift and sliders/skids/winch/bumpers/rear cage/silver with red & orange & yellow.
    10 FJ on 33"s and 3" and sliders/skids/bull bumper/winch for it's fat a$$.

Lots do the Rubicon with IFS but it what you consider acceptable amount of damage with the inverse of how quickly you would like to wheel.

Dusy Ershim might be more of a "challenge"...

That could be true for the late-08 models since I bought mine in May.

I'd imagine the size of the Tacos would be the major concern for Rubicon? Even an FJC can be easier to scoot around in.

Yeah I don't want any carnage ideally haha but before I do that i'd get full skids, sliders, at least a rear locker, and front and rear bumpers. I know they have bypasses to the really hard stuff but I'd like to be prepared just in case. Oh and 285's at least
