Yea we deal with rocks, trees, branches, other vehicles, the sides of mud/dirt hills, my foot...

I honestly have never messed with plastidip, just had a co-worker describe it too me and all I was picturing was it peeling off in sheets out wheeling.

Give it some time and I'll let you know how mine holds up. I have wore some off below my door from my foot rubbing getting in and out. I had some good size branches and brush drag on everything and hasn't peeled anything yet. Only time will tell though

So I have a possible line on a full built dana front and rear with gears and ARB's. All the linkage and possibly the coilovers too. Pretty much everything I would need to do my undercarriage on a 2nd gen tacoma. The big problem is that its a right side drive front axle. Are there any options in changing mine to right side drive?

Yep just grab a built gear drive tcase from marlin crawler or an atlas tcase.

I wouldn't recommend the gear driven t-case under a 2nd gen... Unless it was fully built... which will cost roughly equal to an Atlas which is far superior, so atlas it is :D

Might want to check your math on that one. A fully built gear drive tcase stuffed full of marlin chromo goodness and 4.7 gears is 1000 bucks cheaper than a comparable atlas 2spd case assuming you build the gear drive case yourself and bought one for 100 bucks. This is not including drive-shafts and other mods. The atlas prices start to get closer once you add a doubler to the gear drive case (and buy it outright per-assembeld from marlin) and compare it to an atlas 4spd. That also does not include trying to get an atlas to fit even with the frame rails which is much easier with a gear drive case.

If it was me and i got the fully built axle for an amazing deal, i would take the money one would have to spend on a new transfer case and send that 60 to get retubed for drivers side drop. My friend did this with a HPd44 and it was surprisingly cheap going through Currie.

So your saying to just have it retubed from passenger side to driver side? So just a change in tubes? Then flip flop the axles??

Yea, they retube it so that the drop is now on the opposite side and they weld your inner C's back on. The guts get swapped side to side. No idea what the rolleyes is all about... Do the math, if its ready to drop in there but its going to cost 2-3k to get it to work, retubing it starts to sound like a viable cost effective option. Now if you wanted a doubler anyway, that changes things a bit.

This Tcase debate will never end. Facts are the Toyota gear drive case is 1/4 ton rated and the atlas is 3/4 ton rated but that doesn't matter because anything can break run what makes you happy (in my case an 4 speed atlas) then just learn to wheel what you have so you don't break it.

Ok slander I got you now. Just trying to take it all in, and retubing for sure sounds like the way to go for me. Ive already got a 4.7 marlin crawl box ordered. Ill get more info tonight when I look at what he's got, and whats all included.

This guy built up a full on rock crawling four runner. V8 and fully built dana's under it. He's done and ready to move on to a new hobby. The front axle is worth more than he wants for the whole setup.

I don't know what you fab skills are like, but there are plenty of threads over on pirate about retubing d60's, so it can be done for materials and your time if you have the skills and access to the tools.

It was including the dual case... I just assumed you'd be dumb to not do dual cases in the conversion

Currie doesn't provide re-tube anymore. I called about it just recently and they said no more.

I agree, then again i think its dumb to do an SAS before duals, people do some crazy things though and keep the cases stock and do duals as their very last mod... I guess they like to wrench on the trail all day instead of wheeling.

That's crazy about Currie! The OP is already on the west coast so hes close to the fab shop mecca, unlike us stuck out here in the muddy cornfields, so finding a shop out there should be easy.

I almost think currie turned me down because I was out here lol. I found perfect d60 swap axles and the dude re-tube himself to pass drop... Ugg

I am one of those who still doesn't have a crawl box :anonymous: don't hate. I really don't see a need for it when half the obstacles I gotta have the pedal to the metal anyway. Fucking mud!

My "crawlbox" is close to my last mode. I still have rear arb and RCV axles left but those can wait.

I just had to kill my savings to replace the turbo in my cummins, and I cant just replace it nope has to be an upgrade so a S300 turbo and 300HP RV injectors are going in.

I had a Marlin 4.7 box in my last truck but this truck I'm finding going fast is way more fun! So I'm building my suspension first to accommodate speed then slowing down as I need to. So far with the auto, I haven't felt the need for lower t-case gears. I will go Atlas 4 speed when the time comes...along with a 5.3 GM V8 and 4L60E :burnrubber:
