I've been on the hunt for a shop anywhere near east mass with a tech that has mastered this vibration issue. I know it may mean throwing money at it, which ill do if i have to, (i.e. carrier bearing drop, 1 piece driveshaft swap). I'm surprised the dealers I've talked to are not familiar seeing how its the #1 issue being brought up everywhere on the web.
but if i can't find some taco guru, i will just throw money at it and take up a space in good ole garage.

Richie is a friend of my family there, guy can fix anything.

Never really did much repair-wise with them come to think of it, my wife did a couple basic things but they are close to her work.

I know I am ver puzzled too, truck is bone stock with 89K, and I'm not a finicky guy when it comes to my trucks, just want them to ride down the road straight and function as a work vehicle.

shoulda stuck with my 90's chevys maybe?

The dealers don't want to deal with stuff like that and aren't versed well enough to do so. Hell, most won't even replace a u-joint.... instead they swap the entire drive shaft! I'd start with a decent driveline shop, one that specializes in drivelines. If it's a minor vibration, it could be the carrier bearing. The rubber around the bearing is soft and allows the shaft to shake. The problem is, the aftermarket bearings don't last as long but the rubber is much better which helps the vibration.

I would be very concerned with the death wobble if I were you and not waste time tracking that issue down. The bearing that was just put in could be bad and need to be replaced.

I will have that checked on my day off tomorrow, I hope it wasn't a defective bearing. But my truck luck has not been good this year.

lol Noelie84, my 97 k1500 is hands down the best vehicle I have ever owned and is my go to when the taco can't hack it.

Pugga, I shall start the hunt for a good driveline shop then, I don't know why i hadn't thought of that before considering this issue is noted at the "driveline" vibration on most threads discussing it.

thanks for all the help already guys, starting to like TW

Only if they've got manual transmissions.
Couldn't pay me to buy a Chrysler-designed automatic.

Or a Ford anything (notable exception being the 300 straight six)

Ford used to have some great diesels back in the day. Except that turbo-less diesel, that thing was a dog. The 300 straight 6 is a beast! That's one engine I'd love to see come back.

Meh. If I was going to own an old American Diesel I'd opt for a Cummins. Especially one of the old late-80's ones with the rotary diesel pump. 20MPG's all day, and if you want to boost power all you need is a screwdriver.

Took my 33's out of the shed and was like "oh god those are pitiful!"

    Corrosion killed those wheels.

So I took a wire brush, knocked all the crap off, blew them off, and hit em with some bedliner I had laying around... Why the hell not?

They don't look too bad so far I think.

$25 a tire and I've put 10k or more on them already, I can't complain.

    Thanks!

You are going to need to take that paint off to get the uniball in. It's a very tight fit . Why did you paint the bushing on?

    I'll wire wheel the cups.

I painted the bushings because I didn't feel like taking them out :notsure:

    I'm sure it'll flake off

So much for doing everything the right way on this one. How long until the BFH comes out?

What, cause I painted a bushing?

It still serves it's purpose, does it not?

I was thinking more about the wire wheeling of where the unviable goes. It should be a machined surface so you don't get spalling. Also, the paint prob isn't good for the rubber of the bushing.
