My eyes are bleeding from reading the first 50 pages of this thread but I'm glad I did. Thanks for all the info.

Replaced the front shocks with 5100's at 1.75 to level out the rear leaf TSB at a local shop over the weekend and sure enough, vibrations between 30-40 mph not less than 100 miles after the shocks were installed. Goes away when I put it in 4H.

Checked out ECGS website and will be picking up the 8" bushing and axle seal but curious if I should replace anything else while I'm at it given the high mileage on my truck. Good thing is I haven't been riding with the 5100s long but who knows what other wear and tear might exist.

I'm no mechanic and the closest thing I've done on my truck myself is replace the front brake pads . Anyone have any suggestions on how to tell if I should replace anything else while I'm replacing the bushing?

Like 4mytaco, I'd be willing to pass on the removal tool to the next guy if anyone is up for donating.

Greatly appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I installed an OME 3" lift this last weekend and immediately got the vibes. I have an alignment scheduled for Wednesday. I won't be able to do the bushing install for a couple weeks. Will I have to get an alignment again after it's installed?

No you will not have to re-align your truck after the bushing install.

Gotcha! Now I imagine the entire axle has to be removed and you can't get by with just removing from the diff, correct?

I don't understand the trouble some of you guys are having with removing the CV from the diff. A small pry bar into the gap between the CV and the diff housing and thump it. Pops right out. No sledge and cable, no slide hammers. Takes 10 sec. Pry toward the center of the truck, pushing the CV out. If you pry out toward the hub, you may damage the diff oil seal.

That was how I made my first attempt at removing my cv axle. I even had a buddy help me and we had a pry bar on both sides for an even pull with no luck. I Had to resort to the slide hammer which actually worked well for me. A couple of knocks and it popped right out. Guess we all can't be as lucky.

Maybe my disregard to changing the C clip every time I removed the CV has somethng to do with it?

Where is this c clip you speak of? I may try the slide hammer idk yet. Can I do it without renting a tool?

The retainer clip/ring on the end of the shaft that goes into the diff. What tool would you rent?

The slide hammer thing. I guess I could use the wire and sledge method too

Exactly! When I changed out my needle bearing for another needle bearing (pre ECGS fix), jberry813 helped me out because I couldn't get it. He tried and tried and tried. It took a ton of pounding and a helluva lot of swearing before it finally came out (the latter probably made the difference  ). Anyone that knows Jason's work will realize it must have been a real bit&& to remove. Now popping the new axle in was a breeze.

Pounding on the pry bar with a BFH. The dust shield on it was all bent to hell, but I was able to mostly straighten it. If I ever have to replace the latest needle bearing with the bushing, I'll use a slide hammer with the hose clamp method.

Just wanted to post that I just had my front diff bearings replaced (due to the vibrations) under warranty at Toyota. My truck is a stock TX Baja with 23k miles. They ended up replacing my driver side axle as well as the teeth on it were in bad shape or something... dont have the paperwork with me at the moment.

    Ok , I'm confused ...

How is some say the front has to be re-aligned ? If you pull the bottom 2 bolts that hold the lower ball joint the settings on the front should not change when assembled together ?

Beng overly cautious? I have had mine apart 3 or 4 times now with struts, springs, boot replacements and what-not, alignment still fine.

unless you remove your lower control arm, loosen your caster bolts, adjust your coilovers, etc your alignment will not change.
