my interim recall notice says if you have had to pay for the repair of your broken rear leaf spring to talk to Toyota and you may be able to get refunded the amount for the repair..

I just got the per-notice of a re-call... I've already added a custom spring to my shitty '06 3-leaf spring pack...!! My truck runs and sits great and I hope they do not want to mess with that..!! (I'll take a clamp or 2 to keep their shitty springs from messing with my gas tank...)... that is OK..!

I've already told them to shove their frame re-call up their CEO's butt, becuz I've used Corrosion Free from day 1.... My truck is A-OK...!! AND I do not want their crap sprayed on my truck...!!

The simply solution would be to replace the springs. It would appear on the surface that they would rather come up with something cheaper and move on.

On a side note, I found out from my dealer that Toyota is only interested in replacing rusted parts that can impact safety. Case in point: My taco had the power steering rack and pinion (including the lines) completely rotted out and the AC suction line completely rotted out. Both of these components lay right there next to the good old rusty frame. However, since the mileage is beyond the warranty they are not interested in replacing them. Gee I wonder why they won't replace them, but they will anything that has to do with safety. So much for Toyota really caring about their customers.

The simple solution would be to add a clip like they did for the late model 11's and newer , hence the reason they aren't part of the recall

I have received notice for three recalls - none of which they have parts for and are 'still working on a solution'. Guess they're waiting for people to die or trade in their trucks.

I just received a letter in the mail for this recall too. I just had my frame done and unlike others they didn't replace my leafs at the same time. I figured they separated the leafs and frame into two different recalls here in Canada. Apparently not though. I had a spring shop in town add a leaf and re arch my truck so now it sits level. I would like new springs not but if it means my level is going to be all F'd up.

I just received a letter in the mail for this recall too. I thought it is interesting they say in the letter to check your leaf springs if you hear banging or clanging sounds coming from that area. What a bunch of horse do-do. I'm waiting for the frame rust check and then I'll have them look at the springs. I feel like an old man who can't quit going to the doctor now that I'm old (8 yrs for the truck). Let's see, rusted frame, broken leaf springs, vibration at 30 to 40mph, rear brake clicking sounds, light out in interior. Glad I bought a Tacoma for its value... LETS GO PLACES

    You got TSBs then.

Do they have four retention clamps or two?

I see three which must mean you have four.

In my studies, it seems like their new leaf springs have those four clamps so that when they break (thats right, i said when) they won't come loose and damage things. Leaf springs are a wear item and eventually break or sag. Seems like clamps is all they're going to do. But in the mean time, they're replacing the ones that break with TSB leafs that have four retention clamps.

    Technical Service bulletin.

Prior to this recall, Toyota started a Service bulletin where owners with saggy leaf springs and "harsh ride" could get new "updated" leaf springs if they were still under warranty and their dealer agreed to do the service.

the ride does seem a little better.
the bed looks like it is sitting a little higher too.

maybe it will hold a half ton of pellets better.

I had my driver's side break. I called a dealer and they advised me to bring it in. They knew of the issue, said they'd take pictures and send them to toyota canada and they'd let me know. Fortunately they ok'd the repair and did it for me.
Now i asked about doing the other side at the same time, but the advisor told me not to. He said if i had done it, even though it wasn't broken, they likely wouldn't reimburse when the actual recall comes out as it wasn't broken and didn't "need" to be replaced. So now i sit and wait for it to break lol.

they replaced both sides on my truck, no charge, no hassle, and gave me a 2015 corolla as a loaner.

maybe Toyota has changed their stance - maybe you should go back to them. seems odd to have two different leaf springs on the truck.

for me they told me i had a broken leaf spring, they were going to replace them, they didn't want me to drive the truck, and it was going to take a few days to get the springs. the only thing i had to ask for was the loaner - and they hooked me up with a corolla "just bring it back with a full tank".

I think Toyota forgot about the recall.
