Diff Oil Replacement for TRD Offroad, specific oil?

    I have a 2nd Gen TRD Offroad and just hit 30k miles. I have looked a bit into replacing my differential oil, and I'd like to go with synthetic if it doesn't create problems. Has anyone used synthetic oil without issues? It seems that I have read a few posts in the past where people experienced problems (grinding, slipping, etc.) with non-OEM oils. I'd appreciate any suggestions!

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    Any synthetic will be fine. No addatives needed

    Legal Florida Tint all-around, 1.5" add-a-leaf, bilstein 5100 rear shocks, Light Racing Coilovers, Removed secondary air filter, K&N airfilter, Amsoil 100% synthetic motor oil, Amsoil synthetic severe gear in rear differential, Differential breather mod, Painted rims and logo's black, amsoil oil filter
    I use amsoil full synthetic
    $26 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75w-90 in my rear differential, it was super easy to change.

    I believe the slipping can happen in the TRD sports with the mechanical LSD they have.

    But since you have a TRD Offroad you should be fine with and synthetic gear oil. :thumbsup:

    I don't see any recommendation in the maintenance manual for front differential oil change... am I missing it?

    On the search function... I hear you loud and clear. Sometimes it's frustrating reading through multiple postings without getting a straight answer... Oftentimes I can a quicker answer by posting a new posting. Plus, how else would you guys build your huge post count? :)

    Front diff interval is the same as the rear. :) You can use the same oil in it.

    Hmm... my manual says only if the vehicle is frequently used for towing. I'll look around and see if there is a how to on the front diff... I only saw your rear diff maint. guide.

    I waited to change the oil on my 4x4 to 40K miles and it was HORRIBLY black, and dirty. I think 30K is a good interval to change it. Being as the front diff is always turning, and the gears are always meshing, when driven, it doesnt hurt to change it a little early.
