This thread highlighted a flaw with the post conversion process to the new site. By making it convert properly, I basically fixed a bunch of minor issues as a result.

Thanks to 05PreRunner for the 2 day headache (and unknowingly pointing out an underlying issue with the converter).

Lol , is that a font style? That doesn't seem to be a coding issue.

They're Unicode characters, and there was a weird edge case where certain Unicode chars weren't converting properly.

There's a bunch of other forums who converted using the same converter I'm using (which I've rewritten most of it) that have hex codes all over a percentage of their posts because the converter missed these cases.

Just happen to run into it while checking random posts. When I find an issue, the first thing that pops in my head is "how many other posts, thread titles, PM's, custom user titles, bio's, descriptions does this bug affect?!?? :frusty::frusty::frusty: "

That's why conversions are much harder than creating a new forum from scratch.

I'm not gonna lie, what you just said looks like Russian to me. lol, I have a graphic background, I thought it looked like a funky font someone figured out how to add through code.
It sounds like you got a handle on it though:D

Bob, I don't know if this has been covered or not or even too late, but within the forum will there be more control by the user to be able to delete threads that they themselves have created? Lets say a "for sale" thread, then once sold they can eliminate the entire thread since it will be obsolete.
I thought I saw this in another forum maybe Expo Portal, but I thought it was a really good idea.
Might be a nice way for someone who creates a thread that turns into a train wreck with tons of DB's posting, at least they won't have to watch it spiral out of control.
    Just wondering......

what happens if somebody buys something, it never shows up, the seller ignores the buyer, we end up with another "i got ripped off by..." thread, and no for sale thread to refer back to?

That's a good possible solution. Or we can also, just for sales threads, give the OP a menu to choose to close it with choices like No Longer for Sale, Sold, etc

Another problem I've seen with that too is sometimes there will be a really good post/thread about a question or something that would be nice to be able to reference. But once the OP gets his answer, he deletes it.
