I don't really need the TRD either, it was just what the dealer had on the lot. I can't seem to find many access cabs with a manual transmission and a v6. Most of the manuals are in the 2.7

My haggle was hurt by purchasing a 2014 with 18K miles the day before I took it back to get the 15 new instead. That was a $1500 mistake i would guess. LOL

Yeah I think they purposefully at most any dealership carry more higher trim models. That way they can usually get an up sell in most cases. They made a few attempts to get me take the TRD I had test driven until they figured out that I very firmly want an SR5. I Make the observation that most Tacos in my area are TRDs and the minority are a different trim.

Just my guess that the more specific buyers probably come in early in the month or make a special order or do like I did and wait for the dealer find their truck from another dealer.

It was kinda fun as I didn't know what color it would be. I had said in order of prefrance gray, silver, white I also told them surprise me so they didn't tell me the color when they found it didn't know until I came in pick her up.

I'm glad it turned out to gray as around here its a less common color.

Kinda funny - I wanted a SR5 manual blue second choice red - got red from another dealer - same situation - I knew what I wanted - they didn't have it.

Been looking around for 2015 TRD OR 4x4 DCSB MGM or White. Been getting quoted 32,250-32,800 plus TTL and all that been adding up to about 35,500-36,800 OTD. Seems a bit steep to me. Some of the more expensive ones have some BS add ons

I think it works out like this: the more specific buyers come early during the month and buy the less popular (and therefore less common on the lot) trims as a result the TRDs tend to stay a little longer but are more likely to sell eventually as they are more attractive to a wider demographic.

Not to say that buying a TRD or Limited is bad by any means if that's what a customer wants or if they aren't specific and they'll take one everyone is happy.

The whole upsell is a pretty common strategy though I'd say. Having gone along on many car deals with family and friends seems like they always try. That or they try to unload a model that's selling poorly.

2015 double cab, long bed, trd sport, tow package, 4x4, entune and navigation ..... 35,800 out the door. That was the lowest price I got in my area.

Here is what I did. I went on multiple local dealer websites and built my vehicle. Few days later I got a quote from the fleet manager aka internet manager. These are the people you want to work with when it comes to price and not the sales man. Fleet managers do not work for commission so they give you more realistic price. Reply back to the fleet manager, one by one, to give you the best price they can offer. Wait for their 2nd quote. Once you get the 2nd quote, schedule a test drive. Pretend like its your first time driving the vehicle, even if its your 5th. After the test drive, take the lowest quote and propose it to the the other fleet managers. What it does is wean out the ones that do not negotiate. Once you get your 3rd quote and it its lower than the lowest of the 2nd quote you take it to the fleet manager that gave you the lowest 2nd quote and propose him your new price. Never tell the fleet manager what other dealer you are working with. Just tell them you have a lower quote but you really like to work with him/her (make up reason). All ways work with out the door price. Let them figure out the taxes and other garbage.

With this tactic I got $800 cheaper than any other dealer in the area. Does not seem much for such a truck but you don't see $800 laying on the floor these days. One more tip. Never fill out those forms from websites that will send quote request to multiple dealers. What that does is put you on a list of potential customers and all dealers see that. They wont budge much on the price.

If any of you have good tip when it comes purchasing from the dealer, please share.

Had to order it and wait 3.5 months, it was approximately $31,500 + Dealer Fees ($500). Ended up paying $31,500 OTD. Wrote them a check and drove away.

Edit: Both Toyota dealerships are owned by the same company here in AK, so I didn't have many options. Pay what they wanted, or spend less on a vehicle, but more on getting it up here.

MGM DCSB TRD Sport 4x4, 6spd,v6, tow pkg, entune, and the all weather floor mats $29,200. Paid w/ cashiers check, but after we had gotten the price. Didn't make a difference cash or finance, wouldn't go any lower.

I've really had to look for the 4.0 with the 6 speed. I've found a few here and there in the lower trim levels. Even the lower trim seems to have everything i'm looking for like keyless entry, cruise control and blue tooth connectivity. While i like the TRD sport i drove the other day it had things that i really didn't need or want. Sure the backup camera was nice and the HD radio was great but they aren't things i absolutely must have. Even the bigger wheels and the "upgraded" suspensions are things i'd likely swap out. The only reason i'd go with the TRD off-road would be for e-locker.

I'll find the truck i want for the price i want eventually:D...

I see you are in Vegas. Earlier in the thread I reported buying this in Las Vegas:

So that's 32080 before tax, title etc. In line with what you are getting quoted. I ordered this truck specifically (took about 6 weeks) and note it includes no BS features (not even floor mats). So anything on the lot is going to have at least a few more options. Of course you might get a better price for something already on the lot. It seemed like Tacomas sell pretty quick in Vegas and the dealers don't have much incentive to lower the price too much.

    I'm confused...

    $29,500 (negotiated price) - $26,000 trade-in = $3500 difference

But you had to put $5,775 down ($4775 +$1000 addtl)

... was that extra $2,275 down comprised solely of tax, title, and/or fees?

    Or was the final price of the truck $26,000 trade-in + $5775 down = $31,775 + tax/title

$4775 down mean's he probably still owed ~$21,225 on the 2012. So take the negotiated price 29,500 - (4775+1000)= 23,725+tt&l
