I'm more confused now than ever.

Rough measurements, fender to center hub I am currently 1 3/4" lower in the front. Let's use the dakars since they are the most popular. I throw them on back and as advertised they are 2 3/4". That would put me at needing 4 1/2" in the front to sit level.

Still waiting on my top plate to get here, assuming it is 10mm or .3937" thick, think I read 1:2 ratio for thickness vs height? that would give me just over 3/4" on top of the 884's. 1 3/4" + 3/4" = 2 1/2".

I'd have 2" rake, or near stock, but my CV's and driveshaft will be at the steepest angles and would probably need UCA's and possibly carrier bearing drop, degree shims, ECGS bushing swap and who knows what else I may have missed along the way. Yet it is still not level.

Does everyone buy the Dakars and then remove leaves to get the ass end lower? Seems a bit pricey to be doing that.

Do people fudge their numbers when reporting on here when installing the basic full suspension kit? I went with add a leaf as it was a lesser lift height and I didn't want blocks.

All the research on here I have done with 884's, the small few who used them went with Dakars and never mentioned this.

Can't believe after all these years the 2nd gen has been out such huge discrepancies still exist, hard to imagine every truck is that unique.

I need some Rogaine so I can use some Just for Men lol

I agree.. level is over rated Imho . I tried to level mine once. But of course is only level on level ground.. only a hand picked places showed my truck level.. God forbid you put anything in your bed even with Dakars cause they will drop 1/4 inch... I have a 1in rake now and it levels out when I put my roof top tent and bed rack on..

I'm not worried about rake, would rather not exceed stock rake though.

Just looking to improve the stance and guess I led myself on thinking that the lift kits accounted for leveling after seeing numbers at all 4 corners people were posting. Maybe that was the benefit of the 5100's vs OME

I'll throw the fronts on, probably Friday, see where they put me. If it levels it off I'll see how I like it and might throw the leaf on or just chalk it up as a loss with the rear aspect of the lift.

Next question should be, the rear shocks that came with the lift. Will they be too compressed with stock height if I just use the front coil overs? I assume they account for an extra 2" of expansion.

Don't be that confused!:) You have to understand that my truck has so much weight in it 24/7 that the rear currently (stock) is more than an inch below stock, or in my case 1/4 to 3/8 below (bro lean) the front. So... In my case I need the dakars for the weight. And I do not plan to remove a leaf. And I plan to lift my front 2+ inches to bring my truck to around an inch higher than the rear. (assuming the rear gets 3 inches from the dakars but settles to 2 1/2 or so from the weight.)
I don't know if I've explained it right, but basically I really dislike the level look. I'm basically trying to plan my lift around the fact that my ass is saggy..:D

Long story short- My truck has bro lean from crap in the bed. I want 2 inches up in the front, 3 in the rear to have a lifted "factory rake-ish" look.

I have 2" of rake with icons and dakars. Doesn't bother me, will help when I'm using it as a truck.

Will alcan springs be good to have a set custom made 3" to make the front and back set level?

Looks like my expectations were a bit off.

I'm fine with rake, but most of the numbers I have seen posted when people do, have had all 4 corners within 1/4" of each other.

Think when I throw it on I'll do the AAL at the same time. I just didn't want to throw them both on and some how have some 60's muscle car rake going on.

Might actually start/do it tomorrow night after work. Having 3 day weekends is nice.

Are you talking 884's with dakars? or or aal?

You have any side views of your truck?

Got my spacers today, with the longer studs included. I bought my coilovers preassembled and for some reason they didn't install the longer studs from the get go.

Looks like worse case scenario I'd have about 2" of rake with the AAL or keep the rear stock and have a $900 leveling kit. I can see my truck as it sits now with 1 3/4", but curious to see one with the rake lifted.

Might be able to sell the rear shocks and stock tires in hopes of getting 265/70's and call it good.

AAL, didn't want the extra $400 and 3/4" with 884's.

I'd like to keep my suspension somewhat soft, yet have a more aggressive stance.

Always thought a 3" lift was "safe" but after I bought it is when more of the vibration issues and such came up.

I blame myself for reading what I wanted to hear and not searching more on negatives.

Hey guys, Im looking for anyone that went from 886 to 885 because of the harsh ride off road.
I was in the desert this weekend with my buddy and his tacoma. He has the OME setup with 886 coils, dakar, plate bumper and Warn 8000 winch. The ride was very harsh going over bumps at any speed. He jumped in mine and was surprised how much smoother my truck handled all the bumps going the same speed. Im running 5100s with 600# coils, plate bumper and winch. He's debating going 885. Any input would help.

Interesting. I'm adding a Demello front plate bumper this weekend. I was worried about it with 885s, but my 200 lb self stood on the bumper and I only lost 1/4".

Check if he wants to trade for my 885s, I'd still be interested.

Isnt it wacky that the same trucks can get such different results from the same lift kits? I've had my finger on the purchase button for weeks now but have not pulled the trigger because I find something on here that changes what I'm buying lol

I hear ya, some wtuff you find out after you buy.

I will say, if anyone is ordering the coilovers with OME shocks preassembled, whether you intend to use the front spacers or not I would call and ask them to install the long studs before they assemble them. Otherwise if you want to use spacers you have to disassemble and readsemble anyway so it's a waste of $100.

I found that to be true as well - when I put on the 883's. What bothered me the most was, even with the OME trim packer, I still had almost 1/2" inch of driver lean, so I had to order and put in a top spacer as well.

Whatever.... I love it in the end.

Truck is about level, but someday here I want to get a topper, at which point I'll either go Dakars or AAL in the rear - beef it up and hopefully reintroduce a bit of rake. Have new TSB's right now.

Will 887 be to much on my cv's? I'll have an aluminum front bumper (65 lbs) and a winch in the front is all.
