Either way it's fine with me. Just finished up my fifth site visit in Miami Beach and am having a margi and some tacos before heading back the airport. 95 degrees right now.

My main thing is that I need it reliable to get to work. I have always driven stick on all the cars I had but I think I would do auto or stick with the truck.
I'm in the middle of looking for a house so my budget would be around 10-11k so I don't have to take out a loan and hurt my house hunting. Plus I want something I can mod right away.
I'm new to the whole wheeling and expedition stuff (always had lowered cars), I'm not to sure where to start with the truck after I get it.

I like blackdawg's rig frankenstein. I would go for a 96-97 Tacoma but have not found decent ones around here.

I am mainly trying to find an 01-04 excab and still have enough to do some mods right away.

I was considering 05+ but reg cabs seem to be the only ones I can kinda afford and wouldn't be able to mod for a while. My brother had an 06 reg cab and I rather have the extra room. Maybe an 05+ ex cab down the road.

Thanks Scottie, Yea you are pretty close. I work in Toms River and actually looked at some houses near you.

That truck is way out of my price range.:(

I do have a car trailer if I need to go out of state. Farthest I have gone was only 2-3 hours away.

I know Toyota's can last a long time but 200k worries me, dented bed and those rims and tires would have to go.

Also been reading up on the frame replacements on those years.

You need to worry about frames anywhere from 1995.5 all the way to 2005. If you can find any one that has the frame replaced snatch it up. When you go inspect the truck you will be able to tell if the frame is shit or not. See if the P/O will let you tap it with a hammer. Check by the rear leaf spring hangers.

If you are looking into getting into wheeling your best bet is a 4wd 3.4l TRD as they will have the locking rear diff stock. Otherwise you will need to install an aftermarket locker like an ARB. Also when you test drive TEST THE LOCKER. No use spending the time/money finding one of these gems only to find out the actuator is shot (ask me how I know).

Sucks that the one Josh posted has the dented bed, that's a clean fucking truck and imperial jade mica is drool worthy.

Def not worth 8k though, I bought my 01 3.4L Manual TRD with 156k on it for $7800 two or so years ago.
